Heck, the best choice now is an ancient B-52 that drops a swarm of UAVs controlled by nearby “pilots”.

Turn the F16’s into drones that can swarm. Mix in a bunch of reapers and have at it. I hat I would imagine is hundreds of smaller drones being armed and launched off an aircraft carrier.

Besides the drone tech, it's also that the superior avionics can be back-fitted to older aircraft and even some stealth features like coatings, inlet redesigns, etc.
But don't worry. The defense contractors will soon have drone prices pushed up to the cost of an F-35.
