Boston University’s law school announced the establishment of an endowed chair in critical race theory and antiracism, the first in the country.
The university has named Angela Onwuachi-Willig, the law school dean and “an expert in critical race theory,” as the first Ryan Roth Gallo and Ernest J. Gallo Professor, the College Fix reported this week.
Ryan Roth Gallo, vice chair of BU’s Board of Trustees, and her husband, Ernest J. Gallo, endowed the position with a $3 million gift, wrote Alene Bouranova for Bostonia, the university’s alumni magazine, adding that the professorship “lines up with the School of Law’s history of being forward-thinking on inclusiveness in regard to race and gender.”
According to the American Law Institute (ALI), “the professorship is not only the first one at BU School of Law to support a faculty member whose research focuses on critical race theory (CRT), the study of systemic racism and its effects, with a preferred focus on the intersection of race and gender, it is the first professorship in CRT in the country.”
Roth Gallo said that CRT as well as critical race feminism, are “exciting and important areas for modern legal scholars and practitioners.”
“As we have seen for many years, and increasingly over the past summer, our country needs some new and innovative ideas about how to meet the ideal of equal justice for all,” Ryan Roth Gallo said. “It is our hope that providing an endowed chair will bring to the forefront those new ideas that will lead to changes that promote justice for all.”
Angela Onwuachi-Willig “is a longtime advocate for building structures in academia that can enable individuals or institutions to overcome or tackle racism,” the university said.

Only so long as hard-faced white men with automatic weapons are out there, somewhere, protecting your right to stage such absurdities.
Critical Race Theory.
1. Whites are evil.
2. Take their money and property and give it to non whites.
Yep... same old, same old.
Gallo, as in the wine company?
What have they done, cornered the market on selling to box wine feminists?
Racist Bigotry under the banner of justice. God help us.
I never refer to it as “Critical Race Theory.”
It’s pure Cultural Marxism, the Frankfurt School’s jump from class to race warfare in pursuit of global Communism.
I call it what it is: Communist Race Theory.
I don’t have enough white guilt and self hate to buy into this theory. Going to skip this class.
More reason to send your son to an apprenticeship or trade school or a community college business program, because their skills will be that great deal more valuable than the people who enroll at Boston College for this slop.
No surprise. I have many relatives and friends who went to BU. They’re all raving libs.
Is the base requirement that you be morbidly obese with an IQ in the single digits?
It comes with a reserved parking spot that says “Racist in Residence”.
We are witnessing the collapse of the education system as we knew it. It used to be, “Get a good education so you can get a well paid job at a big company.” But the big companies are so unsatisfied with the product of college institutions that they are creating their own universities. It probably started with McDonald’s Hamburger u. Recently Apple, Facebook and other big tech companies have started their own universities taught by the employees who are doing the jobs that those companies want employees for. For not much longer will companies be looking for a four year degree from an old economy college. Even smaller companies require a certification in whatever job they want filled. Those certifications, like say ASQC (American Society of Quality Control) are the key to getting any job in Quality. That’s because the products from old economy universities no longer suit the need. Candidates with a four year degree in, say, engineering, know all about diversity and critical race theory but can’t do simple design work even though they made A’s in those classes.
Those private certifications don’t come cheap. The candidate must pay for the classes, the tests and the certificate. Then, he has to maintain the certificate for as long as he wants to work. The private issuer is using the razor blade theory. A down payment and a thousand a year for your working life.
Covid 19 may prove a boon to online education for lower lever schools as well.
There’s a high school near my house. For the first year of passing it on the road I thought it was a prison. It has stadium lighting and high fences topped with concertina wire. Then, one day, I drove by when school buses were unloading. I was shocked.
Where I worked, when they changed that school’s district in an effort to improve that school’s F rating by bringing in kids from other ethnicities, several of the people I worked with sold their homes and moved to a different school zone. (The F rating is still firmly in place.)
When schools like that exist, there is plenty of room for a new education paradigm.
The chair was invented by the Egyptians so any use by other than Egyptians is cultural appropriation and needs to be banned.
Like putting an astrology department in the astronomy program.

How would you have liked to have been required to be a participant in that particular cultural Marxist struggle session?
See my previous post in the thread.
Yikes!
I had an endowed chair once, but it was difficult to sit in, the lumps kept getting in the way.
OK, I’ll be Sirius. As I was reading this, two thoughts occurred to me, only one being original.
The first, from the late RHL, was that no one as a child ever wants to grow up to be something that requires a leftist college degree: “When I grow up I wanna be a critical race theorist!” My son played Sim City in 1991 when he was six and now is a transporation planner; my wife played being a nurse and grew up to become one. That is how deplorables live their normal lives.
My second thought, which just occurred to me this morning, relates to the whole issue of college degrees that are useless in the real world. I once read somewhere that for every million junior-high basketball players, 1 will make it into the NBA, and the other 999,999 will have to find something else to do with their lives. The same is true for the bulk of useless college degrees in gender studies or race studies or LGBTQIA studies etc.: a nearly infintesimal percentage will find jobs in their field, of which there are only two types (college teaching and think tank writing). The rest end up making lattes at Starbucks or selling office paper at Staples, all the while crushed with student loan debt and resentful of Donald Trump, who symbolizes everything they are not. It is just as unfair to tell every budding slam dunker that he can make it in the NBA if he just works hard enough, as to tell every budding critical race theorist that [insert chosen pronoun here] can make it in the upper-middle-class swamp if [insert chosen pronoun here] just writes enough papers and spouts enough MarxismLeninismMaotsetungthought, as Radio Peking used to put it back when I was in college.
Critical Race Theory: Blacks can’t be educated; provide everything for them.
That’s a great shot - a perfect demonstration of what decades of food stamps combined with low IQ does to the human body.
