For the 24 hours since the last update:

Doses Delivered: 6 1/2 million - a gigantic day, making up for several recent slow (bad weather) days.

People Receiving 1st Dose: 692,000 (a weak, but near normal day)

People Receiving 2nd Dose: 724,000 (a weak normal day)

Massive deliveries reported yesterday and today make it a good week for deliveries, after a dramatically bad start over the weekend.

22 million shots in forward inventories, brings the amount on hand back up to robust buffer for second shots.

In the lead up to Friday’s (26 Feb) review, NBC reports:

Johnson & Johnson vaccine deemed safe and effective in documents released by FDA https://www.nbcnews.com/health/health-news/johnson-johnson-vaccine-deemed-safe-effective-documents-released-fda-n1258712

“Documents released by the Food and Drug Administration on Wednesday indicate that Johnson & Johnson’s Covid-19 vaccine is overall safe and highly effective — 86 percent — against the most severe outcomes of the illness.”

“The FDA went so far as to say the vaccine has a ‘favorable safety profile with no specific safety concerns identified that would preclude issuance of an EUA,”

“The FDA is not required to go along with the panel’s recommendation, but it usually does.”

J & J is a tradeoff...the convenience of single dose for 66% coverage vs. the inconvenience of two doses for 90+% coverage.

J & J would be fine for people who have had COVID (or suspected they had) and recovered.

My wife and I are on our 3rd day post 2nd Pfizer shot.

Our fatigue is basically gone, and we had a good night sleep last night. We have been doing small chores that were ignored Sunday through Tuesday.

I have an itch and a slight rash around my injection site. We are treating it with 10% cortisone cream.

Relatives in the midwest and southwest in spite of being 75+ are not able to schedule appts for their first shot.

If we had a media worth a tinker’s damn, this would be a top story across the nation. However the truth might make Xiden look like a total failure re getting the vaccine to the most vulnerable.

That group is the missing link/group for most of these vaccine studies.

... anti-vaccine silliness.

Wife and I got our first jabs this week. No major side effects except the chip they inserted keeps triggering the scanners at the grocery checkout and I developed X-ray vision.

LOL — You should have added a “/sarc” tag as some might think your post’s effects are real.

By the way, have you tried to leap tall buildings yet? ;-)

I’m in the rust belt. You are spot on for as how availability was.....last week. The dam seems to have broken and availability has become much more fluid.

Seems that folks who have had COVID (or suspected they had) and recovered are getting stronger adverse side effects to the Pfizer and especially the Moderna.

It has been hinted that they would be fine with just a single dose.

PM for more.

I was in the army for a long time. I have had just about every vaccine possible at one time or another so saying I am anti-vaccine is a stretch. However, I am not getting an experimental vaccine for anything. I turned down Anthrax vaccine for the same reason when it first came out. The Army made it optional until it was actually approved. The Army is allowing the COVID vaccines to be optional now until one is actually approved. I can wait, especially for a disease that is 99.5% survivable in my age group.

We had dinner with friends a few weeks ago. Generally smart and common sense people. They are convinced they are implanting chips with the vaccine. These are also folks who routinely get flu shots, got their shingles vaccines recently and the woman had a pacemaker implanted. All procedures that if they were implanting chips a chip would/could have been implanted.

Tell folks to head for the ‘hood.
My 4 week wait went to 3 days when I switched my appointment to the tough part of town.
Blacks and hispanics aren’t getting the vax, so the ‘hood has plenty of slots.
Since the vax is provided by the feds, the state can’t keep you away based on location.

Doing it at the VFW parking lot, supposed to just show up, stay in truck, wear short sleeves, and show ID and I guess someone will be by to stick me....

I see your perspective. I take a different approach. If there is something wrong, my situation may lead to whatever solves the problem. But as I noted, I understand your position. Plus why would 45 have risked us?

“J & J would be fine for people, who have had COVID (or suspected they had) and recovered.”

J & J also has a study already underway, to determine their effectiveness as a two shot.

A booster shot is likely to bump up their measured effectiveness - might get them in the ball park with the other two-shots.

The time for the adverse reactions to start kicking in is about here.
