Bruce Springsteen pleaded guilty Wednesday to drinking with fans at a New Jersey park — but dodged charges of DWI and reckless driving because prosecutors said he wasn’t drunk during the November incident.
The disposition in the high-profile case was announced during The Boss’ arraignment on the three misdemeanor charges stemming from his Nov. 14 arrest at Gateway National Recreation Area in Sandy Hook.
“I had two small shots of tequila,” the “Born in the USA” singer admitted in his signature raspy voice during the virtual hearing, as he copped to a single count of drinking in a closed area.

Obviously, this county files charges when the reports come in and dismisses them if new evidence comes to light.
Blew a .02. You can be charged with DWI even if you are below the legal limit if you are visibly impaired. However, at .02 nobody is going to be convicted. The DWI looks like it was based on the fact Springsteen initially refused a breath test, not that he actually was over the limit.
They should have shot him to make society more fair.
Cop saw him drinking and saw an empty bottle. The rest is formulaic, and I am guessing reads a lot like every other DWI arrest this officer has made. .02 is absurdly low. The fact is that drinking and then driving after is not (itself alone) illegal. The only offense here was drinking in a park. Big deal. Completely lame arrest. Liberal dummy that he is, this was never a big deal.
“SPRINGSTEEN smelt strongly of alcohol coming off his person and had glassy eyes,” the officer said in the statement, adding he “was visibly swaying back and forth while I observed his eyes.”
Springsteen, according to the officer, took 45 steps during the “walk and turn” test “instead of the instructed 18.”
” .02 is absurdly low. “
How many hours passed before the 0.02 reading.
You tell me. If he was observed drinking the tequila, his BAC might have been higher 30 or 60 min after the arrest. Bottom line is that if you are that far under the limit on a blood test following a DWI arrest, it is incredibly unlikely that charges will be pursued let alone a conviction obtained. If he was a conservative, almost everyone here would be irately proclaiming his innocence.
Was he tested for narijuana or other controlled substances?
Ranger may have saved his life.
I’m going with fake evidence ... took their cue from the FBI labs .... just order the result desired.
Precisely. Even if under the legal limit, if he were slightly impaired, the 30 minute ride to his estate in Colts Neck - on a motorcycle, no less - was not a wise choice. One little “oops” at his age could’ve ended poorly for “the Boss”.
Springsteen has been living under the influence since he was born.
MY MOTHER’S idea of a small drink would float a bar of soap.
The state smells like a sewer.

Always has!
I think we’re on to something. lol
Good post. Only clarification I would make is that field sobriety tests are often not done because the driver refuses to take them, which is totally legal. In fact, Bruce refused to take them in this case. Field sobriety tests are designed to make people fail. Only take them if you are absolutely certain that you are significantly under the limit.
A good liberal can get away with anything
He didn't take any field sobriety test and was not legally obligated to do so. I hate Springsteen, but this cop was out of line for arresting him for DWI.
I’m sorry, I now see that he may have taken and failed some of the field sobriety tests. Perhaps it was only the field breathalyzer that he didn’t take.
Right you are. Blood tests are usually what you get when you refuse the on site breathalyzer.
