Prosecutors Drop DWI, Reckless Driving Charges Against Bruce Springsteen

Bruce Springsteen pleaded guilty Wednesday to drinking with fans at a New Jersey park — but dodged charges of DWI and reckless driving because prosecutors said he wasn’t drunk during the November incident.

The disposition in the high-profile case was announced during The Boss’ arraignment on the three misdemeanor charges stemming from his Nov. 14 arrest at Gateway National Recreation Area in Sandy Hook.

“I had two small shots of tequila,” the “Born in the USA” singer admitted in his signature raspy voice during the virtual hearing, as he copped to a single count of drinking in a closed area.

https://nypost.com/2021/02/11/bruce-springsteen-busted-after-one-shot-of-tequila/

doesn’t mention in either how it was “served”

You can serve your friends drinks at home but you’d still be the bartender.

“Then why was he charged at all?!”

Probably because he was being an a-hole. Anyway, if the Left has no problem spying on Trump and then impeaching him twice, I have no problem with Springsteen being arrested, regardless of whether he did anything wrong.

Any roadside test that you take is completely voluntary. The officer is building a probable cause case against you with these tests.
You should exercise your right to remain silent while recording the entire traffic stop. Politely decline any roadside tests and searches and ask if you are free to go.

People need to start exercising their rights more against government agents.

“The bar is now open” is a phrase that can be heard anytime a bottle is opened.

Shotglass, bottle, or flask?

the fans reportedly took photos. Yet the photos weren’t discussed in the news reports as “evidence” or released.

Despite being one of the most overrated performers ever, Springsteen is like a god in New Jersey. As such, he is above the law.

Overrated is right. Eric Burdon and the Animals had about ten great tunes. Springsteen has only two I can tolerate. "Trapped" and "Glory Days". BUT what a cult Brucie has. He even fills stadiums in Europe. They love him in Scandinavia.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Adam Baker cited the results of a breath test Springsteen took at the ranger’s station that day in which his blood-alcohol content was 0.02, well beneath New Jersey’s 0.08 threshold indicating intoxication.
______________________

He refused the on the spot highway breathalyzer test. My guess is most of the alcohol was out of this system by the time he was given the blood test for alcohol at the station. The NJ cops might have dawdled giving him this test. Bruce works out and looks very healthy, which probably means what he drinks leaves his system quicker

RESULT: You cannot charge someone with DWI when the blood test comes up at 0.02%

“Really? He blew a 0.02. You think someone should be arrested for that?”

According to the statement, the officer saw Springsteen take one shot of tequila before getting on his motorcycle and starting the engine. The officer told Springsteen alcohol was prohibited at Sandy Hook, and then noticed a 750-milliliter Patron bottle was empty, the statement said. It’s unclear how full the bottle was when he began drinking from it.

Springsteen said he had taken two shots of tequila in the last 20 minutes and was planning to drive out of the park, the officer reported.

“Springsteen smelled strongly of alcohol coming off of his person and had glassy eyes,” the officer said.

He indicated four out of six clues for intoxication in an initial test and five out of eight in the walk-and-turn test, according to the statement.

The officer said Springsteen swayed back and forth as the officer checked his eyes and took 45 steps during the walking test instead of the 18 he was told to take.

Springsteen refused to provide a sample in the preliminary breath test, the statement said. By the time he took one, Springsteen blew a .02, a quarter of the legal limit in New Jersey, according to The New York Times, citing two people close to Springsteen. It’s not clear when he took the test.

The Asbury Park Press first reported Springsteen’s blood alcohol level. The newspaper also said fans offered him the tequila after he took pictures with them.

Springsteen faces charges of driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and consuming alcohol in a closed area in connection with the incident, according to National Park Service spokeswoman Brenda Ling.

Ling said Springsteen, famously a New Jersey native, was cooperative throughout the process.

News of the arrest came days after the debut of Springsteen’s first Super Bowl commercial. In the two-minute spot for Jeep, Springsteen says the country will again see unity and says “there’s hope on the road up ahead.”

A spokesperson for the Jeep brand said the Super Bowl commercial has been put on pause.

Fans have long praised Springsteen, 71, for his healthy lifestyle.

In his 2016 autobiography “Born to Run,” Springsteen said he avoided drugs and didn’t try alcohol until he was 22, partially because how he saw how drinking affected his father.
