Police officers who put a hood over the head of a mentally distraught Black man, then pressed his body against the pavement until he stopped breathing will not face criminal charges after a grand jury declined to indict them, New York's attorney general announced Tuesday.
Daniel Prude, 41, died last March, several days after his encounter with police in Rochester, New York. Police initially described his death as a drug overdose. It went mostly unnoticed. But nightly protests erupted after body camera video was released nearly six months later following pressure from Prude's family.
Attorney General Letitia James, whose office took over the investigation, said her office had “presented the strongest case possible” to the grand jury, but couldn’t persuade it that the officers had committed a crime.

Interesting that a black drug perp can avoid responsibility for PCP, an illegal drug that is mortally dangerous to persons around the perp, and not allow police to defend themselves from the CRIMINAL.

I don’t think it was an accident that the actor who played Satan on that series (was it called “The Bible?”) looked so much like the Kenyan.
I beleive there was a reason given back when it happened. That being he was spitting at officers. That is the usual reason for the hoods,

I think it’s SOP when taking people who are violent and out of control into custody.
Seems less drastic than knocking the wild man into unconsciousness with a billy club, which is what they used to do to wild men of all races, colors, and creeds.
I read this on the Daily Mail this morning. Either FReepers are hitting up their comments section or there are still lots of people with some sense God gave them that are commenting. 90% of the comments were pro police and anti drug users.

Yes, reason given, it is SOP for violent, combative, spitting, PCP using criminals.

I believe the Daily Mail's purpose in publishing these type of articles is to generate general Anti American sentiment in the UK and Europe, and in particular, Anti American Conservative sentiment.
Not sure if FReepers or many Americans are commenting at Daily Mail, but I agree with your assessment, and find it interesting that comments are allowed. US Mainstream Media would disable comments or delete most of what shows up on Daily Mail.
I can help explain the hood thing, I live in Rochester and there is a lot of the story the media isn’t reporting.
It is true that they put a hood on him. It’s called a “spit hood”. See, in Rochester, the police get spit upon so frequently that the proceedure that has been established for dealing with these frequent spitting issues is to put a hood over the person so they can’t affect the officer with biohazards.
The Prude fellow was on PCP, naked, and walking up and down breaking windows from small businesses when the police were called. He told the cops repeatedly that he had covid as he spat on them, hence the spit hood.
Should the cop have put his knee on the guys neck for the amount of time he did? Probably not. But I have a really hard time feeling sorry for the guy who knowingly took PCP and flipped out and attacked the cops when they arrived. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes, etc.
The media, as usual, tells 1/2 the story, and fans flames.
