University of Washington student union pushes to remove George Washington statue on campus

University of Washington students pushing for the removal of the campus' George Washington statue is one of many instances of college students targeting the United States' founding father, Campus Reform correspondent Justin Brascher said on Tuesday.

"This is just another further example of how we as a society cannot seem to separate the good that somebody has done from the evil. This particular petition was brought forth by one of the student unions on campus and has actually been adopted by the school newspaper," Brascher told "Fox & Friends."

Brascher said that the school newspaper "is calling for the removal of the statue," which began when a "petition was filed in August last year."

"It is really just unfortunate to see this sort of attitude towards our founding fathers," Brascher said.

Brascher was referring to students on the University of Washington's campus calling for the removal of the campus' George Washington statue.

President of UW’s Black Student Union Mahilet Mesfin said the BSU presented a list of seven demands for the school's administration to meet the needs of Black students.

"The list, in part, focused on policing practices, diversity requirements, expanding mental health resources, hiring more Black faculty and removing the George Washington statue," KING 5 Media Group reported.

The entire cancel culture movement reminds me of a spoiled brat kid, doing anything they can for attention with useless parents defending them with one ridiculous excuse after another trying to validate somehow.

Remove a statue to Washington in a University named after him in a state named after him - more American culture hated as promoted by Maoists.

If these snowflakes don't like George Washington, why did they apply to a school named after him? I'm sure Cuba has plenty of colleges to their liking.

Iconoclasm (from Greek: εἰκών, eikṓn, 'figure, icon' + κλάω, kláō, 'to break')[i] is the social belief in the importance of the destruction of icons and other images or monuments, most frequently for religious or political reasons. People who engage in or support iconoclasm are called iconoclasts, a term that has come to be figuratively applied to any individual who challenges "cherished beliefs or venerated institutions on the grounds that they are erroneous or pernicious

While iconoclasm may be carried out by adherents of a different religion, it is more commonly the result of sectarian disputes between factions of the same religion The term originates from the Byzantine Iconoclasm, the struggles between proponents and opponents of religious icons in the Byzantine Empire from 726 to 842 AD. Degrees of iconoclasm vary greatly among religions and their branches, but are strongest in religions which oppose idolatry, including the Abrahamic religions.[6] Outside of the religious context, iconoclasm can refer to movements for widespread destruction in symbols of an ideology or cause, such as the destruction of monarchist symbols during the French Revolution.

Should just be a general rule....if you don’t want the school name...go find the right one and hook up. Maybe they can find the University of Sponge-Bob and get a valued degree via them.

Conservatives really need to support these removals and renamings. I do not want these thugs and harpies appropriating the heritage of my country. They are creating their own and separation will logically follow.

Washington is literally the most important American in history. That’s not an opinion, this country would not exist if he had not survived the revolution. The portion of the constitution dedicated to structuring the presidency was left intentionally vague because the framers intended for Washington to flesh it out. He held the country together through the greatest adversity you could imagine. His achievements alone make him number one. He impressed the French so much they bankrupted themselves to help us win the war. He was the only commander in chief throughout the whole revolution. He presided over the constitutional convention. He denied power every time it was offered and would only accept when he was told no other man could fill the position and even then he didn’t intend to stay in power long. He bankrupted himself funding the revolution. He couldn’t even afford to attend his own inauguration and had to take out a loan to finance the trip. He is the only unanimously elected president, TWICE. He is the only independent president. He built this country from a collection of self interested individuals and inspired them to something greater. Washington is bar none the most important figure in American history and if you can’t look at a statue of him then you’re not American.

A bunch of years ago they changed the symbol of King County to a picture of MLK’s face. That was the beginning.

Guarantee they lobby to change the name of the state too. Let’em. I can’t wait to find out what the new name is going to be.

Why should we be listening to juvenile minds who engage in indentured servitude (student loan debt), aka, self-enslavement?

Same thing is going on in U.K. The first is about erasing the likes of Nelson, Drake and Raleigh from English history; the second the move by the mayor of London to remove ‘problematic’ street/neighborhood names. Worth a watch. Frankly I’m surprised YouTube hasn’t canceled him yet.
