You’re right on the humidity... summer is ‘go to the beach’ or ‘sit in air conditioning’... the perfect solution is to have an apartment in the north to live in for June through September. That gives the best of both areas with no income taxes.
More about sitting in the AC. If you live on the Atlantic side, you better get off the beach by 130 in the summer to avoid the daily lightening and torrential rain. But my mom is happy there year round. ;)
