When they already had “Girl Scouts”, what was the reason for girls to join “boy Scouts”????

To help destroy the institution, which in turn helps bring down the system, of course. That’s what it is always about.
Too few women GS leaders were willing or able to take their troops camping or on high adventure activities. Hence...Boy Scouts.
The Girl Scouts has been far left for years. Hence some conservative parents wanting girls to join that instead of Girl Scouts, but they’re ignoring conservative girl orgs like American Heritage Girls.
From observation, the Girl Scouts shot themselves in the foot ten years ago by actively pushing OUT stay at home mothers. They said stay at home mothers were bad role models, and we don’t want you as leaders. This led to many women with experience (because they had several girls) going to AHG. And it meant the “leaders” left behind were busy working Moms.
Now you get spa day stress relief badges and activist march badges but not camping and adventure ... then the girls cried it isn’t fair, we want to do what the boys are doing.
Having had one in Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and AHG, I will also say that the Girl Scouts’ standards are watered down. The personal finance badge for Girl Scouts has “look up vocabulary” and “create a budget”. The Boy Scouts badge has budgeting, learning about investing, terminology, research. The first aid badge covers far more for Boy Scouts, too.
