The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday paved the way for a New York City prosecutor to obtain former President Donald Trump's tax returns and other financial records as part of a criminal investigation, a blow to his quest to conceal details of his finances.
The justices rebuffed Trump's request to put on hold an October 7 lower court ruling directing the former Republican president's longtime accounting firm, Mazars USA, to comply with a subpoena to turn over the materials to a grand jury convened by Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance, a Democrat.
The ruling does not make Trump's tax records public.

Exactly. Fishing expeditions used to be illegal, but apparently our Supreme Court think it is ok as long as Trump is the target. There is no legal nor justice system in this country any more.
The lender doesn't rely on the borrower for the value of the property. I'm not clear on what the value of property has to do with tax returns, but any stated value of property is an estimate. There is no "correct" value.

If you tell the IRS that your property has depreciated and you’re lying to them, you go to jail. That’s textbook tax fraud. Obviously the President is being targeted for political reasons but the underlying legal concept is sound.
There are standard treatments for properties that have to be followed. Trump is and has been under IRS audit for years due to his wealth. This is nothing more than persecution.

Agree. Doubt they will find any damaging info on Trump in his taxes. If there was something damaging in his tax records that could put him in legal jeopardy I guarantee it would have already been leaked by now!

I have absolutely ZERO respect any more for the "Supreme" Court. They have proven themselves to be politically driven, not driven by the correctness of law. They have allowed our country to fall into the hands of absolute criminals bent on its destruction for their own personal gain. They have unleashed endless horror on us all for their own personal payoffs of various kinds, not all of them monetary. By allowing the current illegal and criminal regime to assume office as President, we will be overrun by illegal disease-carrying vermin, and this during a pandemic! And we will be forced by libtards to expend billions of dollars to feed, house, educate, and medically treat the illiterate low skill criminals being INVITED to trespass our borders just to vote "D", at a time when our economic position is greatly compromised by the pandemic's effects. Our taxes will soar to support the Dimmocommies' every insane measure. Gasoline is already rising precipitously due to Biden's asinine stopping the pipeline and other anti-energy measures. People have frozen to death during Texas' current weather thanks to Biden energy policies forced on the state.
