WASHINGTON (AP) — The last time Merrick Garland was nominated by the White House for a job, Republicans wouldn’t even meet with him.
Now, the once-snubbed Supreme Court pick will finally come before the Senate, this time as President Joe Biden’s choice for attorney general. Garland, an appeals court judge, is widely expected to sail through his confirmation process, which begins Monday before the Democratic-controlled Senate Judiciary Committee, with bipartisan support.
“Judge Garland’s extensive legal experience makes him well-suited to lead the Department of Justice, and I appreciated his commitment to keep politics out of the Justice Department,” Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, said in a statement. “Unless I hear something new, I expect to support his nomination before the full Senate.”

Both of Texas’ senators are completely useless.
Judy’s an AG?
“I appreciated his commitment to keep politics out of the Justice Department” -— Since when do Democrats keep politics out of any Department?
Newbie is full of sunshine!
Cornyn is worse than useless. He’s aiding and abetting the enemy in a time of war.
Fine by me they won. Don’t waste your time. 30 hours.
As AG, Merrick Garland won’t be a much worse pick than either Jeff Sessions or William Barr, when it comes to actually enforcing the legal code of the Federal Government. By default, neither one carried out that duty, so Garland, who may be counted to ignore the applicable Federal statutes equally as well, has a very low bar set for him already.
I wish that were sarcasm, but it’s not.
Attorney Generalissimo Merrick Garland! ... Sounds Good!
there may have been pressure on Biden to appoint Garland for the next SCOTUS vacancy. This will free Biden to appoint a younger and more radical person instead.
Dems fight for every inch every day. That’s why they win political fights and we now live in a post constitutional banana republic. The GOP just couldn’t be bothered to substantively oppose them.
Not to mention appointing a replacement to Garland's seat on the D.C. Circuit.
The bias and partisanship is thick with this writer.
I wish this Garland would follow Judy’s lead.
And now it is time for settling accounts with those Republican counterrevolutionaries. There are lots of things to reveal about them that will cause them to resign or simply go home and shoot themselves. Of course, resigning means they will have to be picked up and, umm, disappeared in the reeducation system we are activating. But they will be physically destroyed. Probably their families as well. We don't want people with ideas of revenge running around.
Payback time!!!
