The risk of becoming ill with coronavirus falls by 95.8% after the second dose of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine, Israel's health ministry has said.
The vaccine was also 98% effective in preventing breathing problems or a fever and 98.9% effective in preventing hospitalisations and death, the ministry added.
It comes only days after a vaccine efficacy study in the country concluded that the Pfizer jab is up to 85% effective after the first dose.
The latest findings were based on data collected nationally from around 1.7 million Israelis who had received both shots of the Pfizer vaccine by 30 January.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he expects 95% of people aged 50 and over to have received the vaccine in the next two weeks.
The surge in Israel's vaccination programme has meant the country can begin to restart its economy.
Most schools reopened after nearly two months of lockdown, along with museums, libraries, shopping centres and markets.
The Health Ministry has also rolled out a "green badge" app for those that had received their vaccine to enjoy more freedoms.
Linked to health records, the app will prove that the user has had both their jabs, and allow them entry into places such as gyms, cultural and sports events, and restaurants.

With the shot: 50% probability of “what could go wrong”

Yep... the same as happened with the measles (far more contagious than the COVID-19 VIRUS) vaccine when that virus’ vaccination campaigns were done. OH, WAIT... that didn’t happen. The measles vaccine both prevented sickness and catching/spreading the virus. Almost certainly the same outcome will happen with these first two COVID-19 vaccines.

You are incorrect. Your chances of getting ill on exposure is reduced by >95%. This is the odd ratio of you were otherwise unprotected snd likely to get sickness.
What this is saying is with the vaccine your risk of disease plummets Also there is data published that in fact the vaccines to prevent disease. So your and the other posters assertion that you can become carriers etc is also likely incorrect.
Wow. Your assertion is so breathtakingly incorrect it begs the question do you simply make up data to support your position or so you not understand actual statistics and data.
Either way there is a lot of remedial work for you to do to actually have any credibility to discuss quantitative evidence.
But here I will make you feel better. Bill gates. Microchips. No disease. Corona doesn’t exist. Oooga booga. Scary monsters under the bed.

There’s no way you can say that I’m incorrect without us knowing how many people actually have had the virus. And we aren’t doing antibody tests on everyone so we’ll never know. But my general point that there is an extremely high chance that you will not get sick even if you get the virus is correct. And that’s proven by the positivity test rate which has consistently been under 5%. Meaning that at least 95% of the people being tested don’t have the virus. Why are we testing so many people who end up not having the virus? Because there is a great chance you have this virus but you don’t ever know it because you don’t ever get sick. And that especially goes for children so it’s really twisted to be pushing such a rapidly produced vaccine on children without knowing the absolute long-term effects. Especially in an era we are in where truth and freedom are under attack like never before. The biggest question someone has to ask himself is if they think this pandemic was an accident. Once you answer that, you should be questioning everything about it 10 times over.
The politically-compromised medical industry’s recommendation to continue to wear a dehumanizing mask even after receiving a vaccine that promises a 95.8% assurance you won’t get sick from a virus with a 99.9+% recovery rate even without the vaccine, which many of the covid-cowards will obey without question, reveals the true purpose of all the masking ... unless of course the vaccine recipient (most all of whom are healthy to begin with) remains irrationally frightened. (Not sorry to be so blunt; I’m just so very frustrated with all the lies and deliberate harm being done to our American quality of life that continue unabated and with the willful obedience of oh-so-many American women and “men”.)

Yes, some hyperbole. In the Pfizer study, 9 people in the placebo group (the group I plan to stay in) out of 21,500 got “severe” COVID in the 6-month trial. 9/21500 = 0.0418% probability of being hospitalized. Moderna was similar.
That’s the best controlled “science” data I have. If you have better data to counter this, please reply.
But other unquantifiable factors include false-positive-laden PCR tests, the current trend toward herd immunity, and one’s own health.
The 50% figure of bad vaccine outcomes was obviously hyperbole, but the point is: No one knows the bad long term effects of these mRNA vaccines. No one.
