The Biden administration is working with Facebook, Google, and Twitter to target “COVID misinformation” and overcome “vaccine hesitancy,” according to senior officials in the administration who spoke to Reuters.

Via Reuters:

The White House’s direct engagement with the companies to mitigate the challenge has not been previously reported. Biden’s chief of staff Ron Klain has previously said the administration will try to work with Silicon Valley on the issue.

Using their ‘logic’, Coke and Pepsi should reserve a 1 inch by 1 inch area on their cans for pro-vaccination propaganda.

Or perhaps via TV programming....get four consecutive hours of vaccination propaganda via CSI-Tulsa City, Friends of Friends, or Alien Wives in Mobile.

I like being able to hear all the arguments, both pro and con, so I can make up my own mind.

“I like being able to hear all the arguments, both pro and con, so I can make up my own mind.”

Years ago I read an article about that - how the internet was supposed to open up all sorts of information so folks can research, learn, etc. Except in reality your searches are based on what you like.

Although thinking about it more - when I do searches for an old article with conservative thinking, most of the stuff I find will be the liberal view on the issue.

From the article: “The Biden administration is working with Facebook, Google, and Twitter to target “COVID misinformation” and overcome “vaccine hesitancy,” according to senior officials in the administration who spoke to Reuters.

Facebook, Google, and Twitter do not have sufficient employees to counter all the anti-vaxxer propaganda out there.

Is there one reason can trust these people? To think they have our best interest at heart?

I have already been put on a 24 hour ban by Facebook for publishing COVID statistics that contradict the government numbers

Big tech is acting as a monopoly. Could the Sherman antitrust act apply?

So is Twitter going to suspend Harris’s account ? I remember when she was asked before the election if she was going to take the vaccine she said she didn’t trust it since it was created under the Trump administration. Isn’t that “vaccine hesitancy” ?

Yes they do. One programmer setting up the parameters to “censor” what ever it is they want censored and it is done.

Since Google, Twitter, Facebook and Amazon are all in it together they pretty much have it covered.

Who said they were censoring? There is a plethora of false, misleading, information out there. As long as these sites don’t actually remove information but provide alternative, more accurate information, they are not censoring.

If a private company censors/restricts informaton on behalf of a Government, is THAT a violation of the First Amendment?

I spend a lot of time in FB prison. Once for posting a story about Hitler’s use of gun control to solidify his power in Germany, saying it was making the citizens safe.

That’s why they use algorithms. Computer code can flag 1,000s of posts per second. It’s mostly automated. They can even read words in images.

Let’s turn this around. Would you support these media companies ‘censoring’ statements by CDC that didn’t support the anti-vaxxer agenda?
