Doesn’t the crown go to the king’s wife if he dies, then to their kids? I think there is a agreement that Charles will turn it down and have it go to William. My understanding that Charles second wife is out of it in any event. Maybe Kate is as well. Will she be queen only while William is king. however maybe she isn’t queen even then. Once William had kids though, Harry is pretty much out of the picture.
Kate will be the Queen Consort.
Kate will be Queen while William is King. IIRC, should she survive his death, her eldest will then rule and she will be the Queen Mother.
When Queen Elizabeth’s father died-—the crown went to Elizabeth-—NOT the King’s wife....
IF Elizabeth dies, the crown does NOT go to Philip...
When the queen dies, the crown will go to her oldest son, Prince Charles. After Charles, the crown would go to his oldest son William, then William’s line of descendants.
The current order of succession looks like this:
1) Prince Charles
2) Prince William
3) Prince George
4) Princess Charlotte
5) Prince Louis
6) Prince Harry
7) Archie
8) Prince Andrew
9) Princess Beatrice
10) Princess Eugenie
11) August Brooksbank (son of Princess Eugenie)

Spouses like Duchess Camilla and Duchess Kate get courtesy titles based on their marriages, but they are not in the line of succession.
Normally, the wife of the King legally and automatically becomes the queen consort. However, Camilla plans to be known as princess consort, for some reason.
