White Wisconsin schools candidate faces backlash for racially ‘insensitive’ tweet
NY Post ^ | February 18, 2021 | Joshua Rhett Miller

A white woman vying to become Wisconsin’s schools superintendent shut down her Twitter account amid backlash over her sharing a story of being called the N-word — with critics calling her post tone deaf.

The controversial post late Tuesday by candidate Deborah Kerr came in response to a tweet from the co-host of a podcast called Race Through Education.

“When was the first time someone called you the N-word?” Madison Payton tweeted to his 6,400-plus followers. “I was 18.”

Kerr wrote in response, according to screenshots: “I was 16 in high school and white – my lips were bigger than most and that was the reference given to me.”

Another user then asked Kerr how that experience affected her.

“It made me realize that we are all different and that is the gift we give to one another,” Kerr replied.

Reaction to Kerr’s post on the day of Wisconsin’s primary for state superintendent of schools was swift – with several users saying the question wasn’t intended for white people. One critic was a former student in Brown Deer, where Kerr previously served as superintendent of the school district, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.

“You can’t equate someone saying that to you as a white person to the trauma that these black kids are experiencing hearing the N-word,” Nijeria Boone, 22, told the newspaper.

Kerr later blocked Boone and others after tweeting in response to her comments. She ultimately shut down her Twitter account Wednesday morning before apologizing. The profile remained inactive as of Thursday afternoon.

Presuming it happened, Twitter needs to label posts according to races allowed to respond. Black only means black only.

Were I to post a similar question, “When was the first time someone called said to you don't Jew me down?”, would only Jews be allowed to respond? How about references to white privledge, why can non-whites respond?

"the trauma that these black kids are experiencing hearing the N-word"

Give me a break. In today's world, black kids are far more likely to hear the "n" word from other blacks and in rap music than they are to hear it from white people.

Whatever-live by race card, die by race card-this is what she gets for trying in a clumsy fashion to identify, through “empathy”, with history’s biggest “victims”. Before it’s over, it will be “insensitive” for any surviving/descendants of the Holocaust, to claim victimization with blacks. Gives new meaning to the old saying “whose azz is the blackest”.

What a fool. Please explain the trauma you feel when 99.99% of the time you hear the N-word, it is by a black person directed at another black person.

I'll wait.

Yes. It can’t be that traumatic when it’s all they call each other. Black privilege.

Poor wittle thing, Now she knows the anguish that hundreds of thousands of little black children experience from their peers, occasional fathers, and the rapper sh*theads. Whoa is her.

I'm so sick of this race thing.

"Yes. It can’t be that traumatic when it’s all they call each other. Black privilege."

About 12 years ago I had to work late and took a different bus home than I normally took. There was a group black teenagers sitting near me, and they used the "n" word more times in 30 minutes than I'd heard whites use it in 30 years. I had a sense they were flaunting it just to show me that they could say it and I couldn't. As you said, "black privilege."

I couldn't agree more. I never signed on to Twitter and deleted my account on FaceBook. However, I doubt "social media" is going away since it's all ego driven.

HEY LOOK AT ME! I'VE GOT 300 FRIENDS AND DON'T KNOW ANY OF THEM!
I JUST HAD JAM RATHER THAN SYRUP ON MY PANCAKES.
I JUST RAN ANOTHER HALF MILE.
CHECK OUT MY LIKES!
MY GIRLFRIEND AND I WENT TO SEE blah, blah. WE HAD A GREAT TIME.

Indeed. If black people stopped using it it would almost never be heard again.

I am ABOUT to lose it at work. They have set up a Diversity Equity Inclusion consultant presence. It is the topic of every company discussion and I am just trying to lay low, but I am sure it will be very difficult to do that soon. Everyone is onboard and virtue signaling like crazy. Twighlight Zone stuff.
