The trip was planned 2-3 days ago by airhead Heidi.

Lead what? If Cruz is to take a leadership role, why have Abbott and everyone else?

The people of Texas elected Abbott and the other state officials to handle state affairs.

Of course, Cruz could have reached out to President Harris and Biden, but if those two need him to tell them what is going on....well then? Didn’t something similar happen in Kentucky under the administration before the Trump Administration and that guy chose to do nothing.

>>If he really wants to be President, perception is key. Add in a totally insane Marxist press that is hostile to anything or anyone even remotely conservative and it should be obvious.

75,000,000 voters rejected the press and Democrats’ witchhunts to overwhelmingly vote for President Trump in numbers never before seen.

And there IS no groundswell support for Biden or Harris. They have millions of fraudulents returns.

Agree !

As long as we continue to elect senators like one elects a class president maintaining good PR will be all important. For most sneators that’s the single way they remain in office, its certainly not through accomplishments !

Repeal the 17th amendment !

Not go to Cancun

Of curse he can go to Cancun with his family.

The first thing he should have done is get to hell up on top of a pickup bed and scream like hell about how pig face Biden and his ho aint doing a GD thing for the people in that area.

Which would have exactly nothing to do with bringing the power back.

Amusing to see the defense of Cruz by repeating over and over how he has no power to do anything and is totally worthless in a time of crisis... That’s kind of the critics’ point.

I’ve noticed, with increasing frequency, many on here that seem to lean in the opposite direction of folks like you and me. Very squishy, if not down right hostile to anything Conservative.

This is why George W. Bush stopped playing golf while he was President. He knew that the media would constantly criticize him for playing golf while U.S. soldiers were dying in Afghanistan. That is also why he bought a ranch in the middle of nowhere (with limited media access) to go whenever he wanted to get away from DC.

Of course it was perfectly alright for Obama to play golf whenever he wanted. It was also perfectly alright for Obama to shut down NYC for date night and to shut down Martha’s Vineyard or Hawaii when he went on vacation every year.

Of course he could go to Cancun. But not now. The captain of the Concordia could leave that boat anytime too, but he got ruined for life when he did it when it was sinking.

That goes with the game. He was trying to sneak out and got busted. He came back and apologized. What more evidence do you need that he screwed up royally?

They sure do. And it’s always the same handful of hateful jerks. Trump embraced and affirmed Cruz years ago. It would be refreshing if these never-Cruzers came to their senses and did the same.

Must be nice having the kiddies complain about the cold and 3rd world conditions by saying, Hey, lets just jump on a jet and leave the country and head out to some tropical destination. I wonder how many Texans are able to do that? I’d guess very few. And I would assume most Texans are concerned about all the damage and how in hell they’re going to pay for it.

Cruz seems to have an uncanny ability to get people PO’d.

Senators make laws, provide for the common defense, they don't shovel snow or repair power grids

Well, maybe it should be part of their job to shovel snow and repair power grids. I swear, you right-wingers never think these things through!

Is he the one in charge of electric power in Texas?

~~~
Whether or not he is in charge of electric power in Texas doesn’t change how terrible it looks to run away and hide from the suffering of your constituents.
Now I am starting to sound much more harsh and sensationalist than I ever meant to, because personally it’s not a huge issue to me. But if you’re going to slink away from the conditions that your neighbors and constituents are suffering through, don’t be surprised how betrayed people feel.
