You said it. At best, poor taste.

It looked really bad for any elected “public servant” to abandon his state, exhibit tone deaf instincts, showcase Privilege, indulgent tendencies, his mean$ to relieve his daughters boredom with a brief resort vaca in Mexico, during a disaster.

“Ted Cruz was in Mexico for a very brief period, so what’s the problem then?”

He only came home because he was shamed into doing do.

oh well all the notorious “fact checking” media say wind power is not the cause because most of Texans rely on natural gas.

Bobo Simpleton. You remind me of Bobo. A smug, small hearted prig. A peacock, who thought highly of himself, Always had bright ideas for the other guy, void of any self awareness and consideration for circumstances of anyone but his own. 🤏

I don’t care if Cruz is in Texas or not. Why isn’t he in Washington is what I want to know.

Show me any US Senator who is in DC all the time.
Of course most US Senators are out of DC a big chunk of the time.
You can’t really do your job if you keep staying in DC all the time.
How would you get to meet your constituents on a regular basis?

We don't need some fake, made up crisis from the fake news media...

You are certainly correct about that, however, there is nothing fake about the events recently experienced by his supporters in Texas.

Nor is there anything fake about Cruz saying he immediately had second thoughts about going to Cancun. In this case, that could easily describe a guilty conscience.

You may have good reason to endorse Cruz for high office, but I am disappointed in how he interprets the natural born citizen clause. Given he is regarded as a "preeminent constitutional expert", it struck me as intellectually dishonest for him to present as an eligible presidential candidate.

He was essentially forced to abandon his two little girls in Mexico because the fake news media tried to create a scandal out of nothing, which is total rubbish.

He’s Ted Cruz. That’s all that seems to matter to some people.

“If the outside pipes away from the house freeze leaving the faucets running is useless.”

No it is not useless and there is always a shut off someplace. They also make faucets that won’t freeze that fit right on the end of the pipes.

Are you really going to try and push that those of us who live with this cold weather a few months of every year have not figured it out?

I think you need to spend a winter in North Dakota to figure out everything you don’t know.

Laughable? What exactly is inaccurate about what I wrote? Do you have any notion of what she is or isn't doing right now? She is out there being photographed loading water onto trucks and lobbying for her constituents. That makes a difference if you are interested in winning elections.

She is being photographed “loading water into trucks” and that makes her electable does it?
Get back to me when you are actually ready to talk about stuff that actually matters.
This last one of yours is totally laughable.

Nope. You obviously have no idea what you are talking about. Her district is only 36% black. The plurality of her district is white hispanic.

Her district still has minorities in the majority with 36% black if your figures are right.
She doesn't have to do much of anything to get reelected.
Congress has plenty of minority Dems from districts with minorities in the majority, who do nothing and still get regularly reelected.
Jackson Lee is a prime example of that if I ever saw one.

I suppose it would be too much to ask for you to get a clue and quit exposing yourself as an ignoramus.

I have a clue alright.
It's you that will need to get a clue about how things work in Dem run, Dem controlled congressional districts.

It has to be very cold for running water to freeze. We use this trick often when it is in the teens and it works just fine.

I'm sure that a lot of Texans would agree with you that Ted Cruz out of state is more of a benefit to Texas than Ted Cruz in state.

I am fairly sure most Texans will cheerfully disagree with you on that one.

But maybe we're looking at this all wrong. If we look at it as a brave father willing to travel over a thousand miles and cross the border into a foreign country just to find water and shelter and electricity for his wife and children then it gives it a whole different flavor, doesn't it?

Except most Mexicans, Guatemalans, Hondurans etc live in reasonably comfortable houses and people in them countries don't need to take chances with dangerous drug dealers in order to get to America illegally.

” You remind me of Bobo”

And it is apparent I’m talking to an idiot.

I’ve lived in cold weather country most of my life and managed to keep warm and well fed. I live in the cold, work in the cold, and enjoy life in the cold. None of this is difficult if you take the time to figure it all out.

For those who think they know it all, just stay in Texas and hope it is another 20 years before it gets cold again.

Yup.
He is Ted Cruz and a conservative.
That's all that the fake news media care about. They have to trash him on totally made up, totally spurious charges.
Its laughably beyond contempt.

Yes. It's called "retail politics," and she does a lot of it. Voters actually care about that stuff.

Congress has plenty of minority Dems from districts with minorities in the majority, who do nothing and still get regularly reelected. Jackson Lee is a prime example of that if I ever saw one.

"Minority" is not "black." And even though she is in a "safe" Democrat district, she still has to win her primary. She had six primary opponents in 2020 and still won more than 77% of the Democrat primary vote.

I have a clue alright. It's you that will need to get a clue about how things work in Dem run, Dem controlled congressional districts.

Her district lies entirely in Harris County. Until 2020, every election in her career was run by a Republican Harris County Clerk, who served under a Republican Harris County Judge and a majority Republican Harris County Commissioner's Court. That is not a "Dem run, Dem controlled" district.

Actually its meaningless, empty gestures which make little or no difference to voters. She can afford to put up empty gestures like that in her congressional district which has minorities in the majority.

She is a black female in a congressional district that is 36% black, with most of the rest Latino. That is as minority as you can get.

No - it wasn't. According to the text by his wife - it was planned because it got cold. Regardless of what you think of the trip or his ability to do anything - it was monumentally stupid and tone deaf. A little boy of 11 died from basically freezing to death while his kids - same age - are in Cancun.

I live in the Houston area - and was without power - not for 24 hours like Ted's house - but for almost 60 hours. My little dog wasn't left home alone like "snowflake" - but was cared for - and my house was a toasty 80 degrees inside (at least in the living room by the fireplace) when it was 14 - 30 outside. Why? Because I know what the frack I'm doing as a man.

This is God getting back at Cruz for his little tweet to Cali in August about their power grid failure and the Austin mayor's trip to Mexico. Carma is a you know what.
