What Exactly Is Ted Cruz Supposed To Do About A Snowstorm In His Home State?

Senators make laws, provide for the common defense, they don't shovel snow or repair power grids

Here’s what a U.S. senator does: Make laws, authorize and appropriate federal funds, provide for the common defense and the general welfare, regulate commerce among the states and with foreign nations, declare war and maintain and regulate the military, impeach federal officers including the president, advise and consent to treaties and appointments of judges and federal officials.

Cruz was seen boarding a plane and, with social media, the photos quickly went viral. What followed was the dumbest “scandal” ever.

The New York Times did some quality investigative reporting and penned a piece headlined: “Ted Cruz’s Cancún Trip: Family Texts Detail His Political Blunder.”

Text messages sent from Ms. Cruz to friends and Houston neighbors on Wednesday revealed a hastily planned trip. Their house was “FREEZING,” as Ms. Cruz put it — and she proposed a getaway until Sunday. Ms. Cruz invited others to join them at the Ritz-Carlton in Cancún, where they had stayed “many times,” noting the room price this week ($309 per night) and its good security. The text messages were provided to The New York Times and confirmed by a second person on the thread, who declined to be identified because of the private nature of the texts.

As the “scandal” was spiraling on Thursday, Cruz released a statement saying he had flown to Mexico “to be a good dad” and accompany his daughters and their friends. He also said he was flying back that afternoon.

Republicans will never learn they're being watched every second and everything they do will become headline news.

Any conservative Republicans who spends his time worrying about what the fake news media has to say about them is clearly wasting his time. And his life.
As a conservative Republican, your business is to fight the fake news media. Apart from looking after your constituents of course.

Look, democracy is stupid. It's really, REALLY stupid.

That's because, most people are stupid.

BUT

If you wnat to make a living at electoral politics, YOU CAN'T BE STUPID YOURSELF.

Fleeing to Cancun, IN THAT CONTEXT, was not just stupid - it was COSMICALLY stupid.

Except Ted Cruz has nothing whatsoever to do with generating and running electric power in Texas. Its not his job. Al he can do is yak about it which is exactly what he did.

Well, for example, we have this:

Texas Power Plants Get Emergency Clearance to Crank Up Output

The Department of Energy issued an emergency order allowing several Texas power plants to produce as much electricity as possible, a move expected to violate anti-pollution rules that comes amid a deepening electricity crisis in the state that has cut power to millions of homes.

What Cruz COULD have done, was ask power plant operators on the FIRST day "Is there anything that is getting in your way, as far as producing power?", and then started screaming that federal regulations were keeping Texans in the dark.

Cruz was smart enough to realize that he messed up. If only his biggest fans would do the same...

he principles expressed in your post are important. Cruz has a responsibility to his Texas voters if only because they selected him to represent them.

A responsibility that Ted Cruz has taken very seriously over the past 8 years. That is why he wad reelected in 2018.
We don't need some fake, made up crisis from the fake news media to cover up all the great work Ted Cruz has done as a Us Senator.

Actually Ted Cruz did NOT mess up.
He got shanghaied by fake news, so he came back home from Mexico.
A shame really. He should be with his kids in Mexico right now. Whatever the case, its politics and sometimes you may need to forgo time with your family for totally made up political reasons.

said, "Cruz only beat the nightmare by 2.5%. ... It’s getting real close"

Nope not the reason he almost lost. Cruz is a closet never Trumper AND a company man (corporatist.) The last rant was saying, "Trump is delusional (thinking he won the election)"

Well, we don't know whether he actually did that or not do we? Its primarily up to state authorities to fix electricity problems in the states.

Help his constituents through their problems? Or don't Senators do that kind of thing?

Which is exactly what he did. He doesn't actually need to be at the electric power stations throughout the state in order to do that does he?

Answers are found in the publicity department triumphs of Clinton and Obama. remember the “cared” about flood and hurricane victims but Bush somehow didn’t. All media lies.

Ted, next time have a bullhorn, hard hat, work boots and reflective vest and work clothes. When cameras start say to a cell phone: “Yes, I have help on the way. I’ve ordered doubling of help to you. Yes, I understand. I’m blocking out two hours for some relief help when my helicopter lands there myself. I’ll have my boots on the ground with you. No, I haven’t gotten more than two hours sleep myself but I know it’s hitting all of you harder. Bless you.”

On Gov. who really is in charge: “Gov.Abbott and I are working closely and I’m getting more federal aid out by tomorrow morning.”

“The water lines breaking and houses and apartments getting flooded have never happened.”

All you have to do is leave the water faucets on with the water dribbling out of each one and the pipes in your place will not freeze.

It is a FREE thing to do.

Are all people from Texas that ignorant about living in cold weather?

Yep, as bad as it would be if Alaska hit 115 degrees.

I'm sure that a lot of Texans would agree with you that Ted Cruz out of state is more of a benefit to Texas than Ted Cruz in state. But maybe we're looking at this all wrong. If we look at it as a brave father willing to travel over a thousand miles and cross the border into a foreign country just to find water and shelter and electricity for his wife and children then it gives it a whole different flavor, doesn't it?

That’s basically the bottom line. It only mattered to him once word spread. Those defending this stooge are not even being honest with themselves. For a political public person, he should have known darn well this would detonate in his face. This seriously brings into question his perception and thinking process.

Alaska does not get that hot but they do have warm days during the 24 hours of sunlight in the summer.

I have lived in 120 degree days and in other places with -20+ nights.

One has to be plumb stupid not to know what can happen where you are and make sure you have that covered when it comes up.

Texas never got this cold. It beat the record here by 12 degrees. Totally unprepared. Although it got so bad that it seems like the grid is all eggshells at this time. There’s no way this should’ve been more than a few rolling blackouts. Ended up being 5 days for many and no water for a lot too.

Most laughable post of the thread?

Laughable? What exactly is inaccurate about what I wrote? Do you have any notion of what she is or isn’t doing right now? She is out there being photographed loading water onto trucks and lobbying for her constituents. That makes a difference if you are interested in winning elections.

Because she is black and is from a majority black congressional district?

Nope. You obviously have no idea what you are talking about. Her district is only 36% black. The plurality of her district is white hispanic.

Yes, she is black. Her opponent in 2020 was also black. A West Point grad who campaigned hard. She defeated him handily. There are plenty of black and hispanic Democrats who could and do run against her, but she has managed to win election after election for 25 years now.

Where do you clowns get off posting such garbage on FR anyways?

I suppose it would be too much to ask for you to get a clue and quit exposing yourself as an ignoramus.
