WASHINGTON - The United States officially rejoined the Paris climate agreement on Friday, reinvigorating the global fight against climate change as the Biden administration plans drastic emissions cuts over the next three decades.
Scientists and foreign diplomats have welcomed the U.S. return to the treaty, which became official here 30 days after President Joe Biden ordered the move on his first day in office.
Since nearly 200 countries signed the 2015 pact to prevent catastrophic climate change, the United States was the only country to exit. Former President Donald Trump took the step, claiming climate action would cost too much.
U.S. climate envoy John Kerry will take part in virtual events on Friday to mark the U.S. re-entry, including appearances with the ambassadors to the UK and Italy, U.N. Secretary General Antonio Guterres and U.N. climate ambition envoy Michael Bloomberg.
Despite the excitement over the U.S. return to global negotiations, climate negotiators say the path forward will not be easy. Biden’s climate goals face political challenges in the United States, opposition from fossil fuel companies and some concern among foreign leaders about U.S. flip-flopping on climate policy.
“There’s a lot of ground to make up, but the hope of Paris is alive and strong,” said Rachel Cleetus, policy director at the Union of Concerned Scientists.

It is somehow fitting that the fraudulent president would re-enter the treaty to deal the fraudulent global warming hoax. Anything to damage this country.
SUCK device reinstalled successfully
The check cleared.
Take Kerry, Biden and the rest of those azzholes and drop them naked in TEXAS. Pick a city: Houston, Galveston, San Anton...
The Thames is frozen over. People are ice-skating on the canals in Holland. It’s freezing everywhere!
Climate Change (nee Global Warming) is the biggest HOAX / FRAUD ever.
Why TF haven’t congressional Republicans sued yet? This is clearly an open/shut court case as it is unquestionably a treaty.
It’s a fraudulent “treaty” too. It was never approved by the Senate.
Good point.
How is this even legal since the senate never ratified what is a treaty despite calling it an “accord” - its the very definition of a treaty.
A treaty that will never be ratified.
How about taking that Treaty to the Senate. Obama was afraid it would not pass muster there. But Biden, our hero, after many years in the Senate,it should be a shoo-in. Not a chance, Joe!!!
So, my question is :how can we honor a treaty not approved by the Senate???
Pretentious but fundamentally irrelevant action.
The Pelosi,Biden administration is in effect, flogging a dead horse. Note to the floggers. When you see pink goo, stop flogging.
World history is progressing from the Pacific rim, not Europe.
Europe is sick and dying. East of Suez is where the action is. No nation East of Suez is promoting globalization or climate change hysteria.
Doesn’t matter if its a treaty, accord or agreement. All that matters is that when deciding Massachusetts V EPA, the dumb ass SCOTUS redefined Carbon Dioxide as a pollutant that could be regulated under the Clean Air Act. This was decided back in 2007. Now Biden’s minions can write regulations all day long to match their Paris Accord pledges. No treaty ratification needed.
Clean Air Act, a regular bill, does not supersede the constitution, which requires all treaties to be ratified by a super majority in the senate. It’s amazing to me how much our courts have destroyed our constitution the last 70 years.
Climate Same
Trump should have submitted the treaty to the senate. It would not have passed and that would have been the end of it. There should be no legal basis for adhering to a treaty that is not ratified.

I’m guessing that means we’re dealing with the cooling side of a 60-year-or-so climate cycle. From the 40s to the 70s, it cooled down, then from the 80s through the 10s, it warmed up. So now, in the 20s, we may be on the cooling side again.
If we’re cooling down again, the warming signature from our emissions will be a BLESSING, not a curse.
I totally agree. I haven’t read the Massachusetts Vs EPA decision and don’t know how the hell those justices wrested the ability of the federal government to regulate carbon dioxide emissions from the enumerated powers granted by the Constitution, but whatever twisted logic they used, it means that the Executive branch can now regulate CO2 under the Clean Air Act.
Of course since it isn’t a ratified treaty, the next administration can pull out of the Paris accords and cut back the CO2 regulations Biden is sure to implement.
