Sturm Ruger & Co. is staffing up in order to meet the “historic surge” in gun demand that has depleted its inventory.
The Southport, Connecticut-based gun maker has hired 250 employees, mostly in production, since the middle of 2020 to help replenish its stocks as the surge in demand caused combined inventories in its warehouses and distributors to decrease by 86%, or 290,000 units, last year. Retailer inventory of Ruger also remains low.
The hiring spree resulted in a 30% increase in production during the second half of 2020. Ruger is continuing its hiring spree today.
“We are working hard to replenish inventories throughout the distribution channel as quickly as possible, so consumers can purchase the Ruger firearms that they desire,” Sturm Ruger CEO Christopher Killoy said on the company’s fourth-quarter earnings call on Thursday.

Yep, we need Federal, Winchester et al to ramp up their ammo manufacturing.
By a dollar.
Pretty sure they are already running 3 shifts and done major expansions to their production capacity.......they are maxxed out.
Gun prices are at an all time high. Any predictions for when supply & demand return to 2019 levels? Will we see prices drop back to pre-2020 levels once demand shrinks?
Quantity has a quality all its own.
Ruger also does some manufacturing in Arizona.
You have a keeper WD !! Never have I seen that good a group from a ruger ranch rifle ....... thats the best Ive seen . Ruger stepping up the quality for sure !!!
Awesome !
Wade my oldest boy asked ....”honest dad were you right in front of the target”
Lol
That’s my best grouping ever from something not 20 caliber
Man did we get snow here
Most in ten years....I went to deer camp did recon of tracks over 10,000 acres of trails all day
Made notes
Called the dogs
They answered back on howls and pups but they were way off and I had to get back
Hunting dogs where you are at range seems more viable
Calling dogs into a one acre food plot is hard
They will go downwind...first
They are damn smart
And bobcats..you just get them by chance
We have a problem at camp....trail cams often show a coyote with a young deer in its mouth dragging it along
Could it be a deer that for whatever reason doesn’t pick it’s legs up but sorta shuffles... I know that sounds weird...impinged someone with a MD in critters
CWD maybe?
L
There're a few hundred deer on a nearby large Federal campus and they tend to wander along a creek. Several times have come across a partially eaten yearling carcass with bob cat tracks in the mud flat. And the cats are of a good size.
That was my first thought and yes the bottom track sorta has a cat look but the rest are obviously doe tracks
My Cajun friend who hunts the same camp and is originally from Gonzales Louisiana opinion is it’s an old deer who drags her legs ....
It vexed me
We get plenty trail cams of coyotes with fawn in their mouths and a few of bobcats
Bobcats are skittish and seem to know where cams are
My Cajun friend of course hunting since age two..lol..insists he’s right...I ain’t lying though they live to hunt don’t they.....thank for responding
Injured or stumbled maybe ?
Yes see what my Cajun friend figures....similar to that
It threw me and I looked at 100s of trials of tracks Friday.....in heavy snow
It was like carbon paper ....I know where they go now
Surprising how many use the timber tracks ...skidders have made
This is ridge land ....300-500 foot deep valleys or gullies....sharp but walkable or climbable inclines with some rock ....cedar at top and hardwoods in the valley and some spots with loblolly planted by the landowner for poles I think...
The deer I always assumed traverse along ridgelines maybe 10-20 yards from top linear path with an eye and nose on the plateau and valley....made sense right
Nope...most use the plateau logging road same as you and I would....
White tail Deer and I assume pronghorns and mulies too like path of least resistance
It was a fascinating day honestly...just me and my Silverado on ten to 12 inches of powder snow quiet as a church mouse except when I’d break some ice ....I saw a ton of deer and signs ...and predators too
We’ve got 230 stands and blinds on six pacrcels and around 10k acres...we’ve got 50 members and rarely over 7-10:even on weekends except opening gun weekends....and I’m only 94 miles east
Even though it’s leased you feel like lord of the manor as you explore it....lol
That’s worth camp membership fee to me alone ...just being in the woods
