Texas Sen. Ted Cruz admitted Thursday that traveling to Cancun, Mexico as his constituents suffered in freezing homes amid power outages was "obviously a mistake."
The Republican spoke outside his Texas home as a sizable group of protesters chanted just yards away.
"It was obviously a mistake, and in hindsight, I wouldn't have done it," Cruz acknowledged. He reiterated his previous contention that he had gone in order to take his daughters to Mexico to get them out of the cold. "I was trying to be a dad," he said. "When you've got two girls who have been cold for two days and haven't had heat or power, and they're saying 'Look, we don't have school, why don't we go - let's get out of here . . . " The senator will join Sean Hannity Thursday night on Hannity at 9pm et.

And spouses and families of all of the above you mentioned. They sacrificed for the good of others.
The only reason is a “perception” issue is because the “media” is making it on. Tons of people leave dodge when bad weather is coming or hits harder than expected. It’s why Florida has so many snow-birds during the winter every year.
We are talking about a Senator who was in Texas when the storm happened. And decided to bail out. He was probably nagged by wife and daughters. Didn’t man up. Not smart enough to say you go honey, but I have to stay.
I disagree. He can do the same work virtually anywhere. The only reason it “looks bad” is the media is spinning it this way because they absolutely hate Ted Cruz, nearly as much as DJT. I’m not even a Ted Cruz fan. You all can buy the propaganda all you want.
Then your disagreement is with Cruz who said on Hannity, "Because the crisis is here in Texas, you need to be here on the ground, and as much as you can do by phone and Zoom, it’s not the same as being here.”
I do disagree with that, strongly, and he obviously didn’t believe that either or he wouldn’t have left. What’s he going to do on the ground besides PR soundbites and footages that he can’t do elsewhere? I, along with most of white collar America, have been working remotely for nearly a year and productivity is higher than its ever been at my firm.
I knew the moment the story hit it was all over for any future career, and I’m almost certain he has to be getting hints at resigning. Just incredible to torpedo yourself this hard and fast. You usually only see this kind of this with youtube ‘e-celebs’ that pull this level of idiocy.
That he barely defeated the Irish guy by 2.5 points in 2018 speaks volumes of his popularity in Texas.
No kidding. He will absolutely lose if he tries again. After the Trump bashing and this, he really needs to step down and let Abbott put someone competent in charge that can actually win.
Thank God for your Angel.
Your experience reminds me of the movie “Planes, Trains and Automobiles.” John Candy and Steve....darn it! Getting too old. Very funny movie; check it out!
Steve....OMG.
Take care, FRiend!
Julie
Thank you Julie for getting it! Also isn’t it a shame that a 30 something year-old woman traveling alone is frightened to take up a generous offer of a fellow male, stranger, traveler?
Yes I saw the movie. Love John Candy.
Steve Martin!
