the man probably had his hands full dealing with 3 miserable females in his home...
no man in their right mind would allow his wife and daughters to travel to messico without him...
animal shelters were probably closed due to the weather conditions...
he made arrangements to have someone keep an eye on the family pet and didn’t abandon it...
the man apparently put his family first...
what would anyone here have done differently if they were in this situation?...

From his Texas supporters that I've talked to, who were the ones without electricity or water (sometimes both) the last few days...........I haven't found one of them that gives a rat's fanny about this political gutter sniping over what Cruz did...or didn't do.
Guess that's the difference between Texans who are used to taking care of themselves and their family/neighbors during an emergency VS those who think the Government/Politicians are supposed to show up and save 'em.

I think you're frankly just dishonest. I hate Cruz too, but it's clear that pointing out that these people are responsible for their own poor decisions (either smoking themselves to death with their BBQ pits or refusing to take shelter) is crushing your "people are dying! They have no heat! They have no food!" nonsense. You understand this so you won't acknowledge what I write, but instead pretend I am some inhuman monster to not agree with your hysteria.

Yes, as a private citizen he should do what he wants. No, he can’t do a damned thing about the cold.
But pols are (supposed to be) leaders, and a leader doesn’t run away to a comfortable place during a crisis.
Example: WW II, the King was urged to leave London during the Blitz. Wouldn’t do it. Stayed, he and the family went into the bomb shelters, helped dig people out.
How did this sit with the British people? After the war, the monarchy was the ONLY institution (army, Parliament, Church, etc) to see a rise in favorability.
