Former President George W. Bush said Wednesday conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh, whose death was announced earlier that day, "was a friend throughout my presidency," Fox News reports.
Bush, reacting to the news Limbaugh had succumbed to Stage IV lung cancer, wrote in a statement:

If I recall, Rush soured on Bush after the 06 elections.
I am embarrassed I voted for Bush twice and defended him all those years.
That was a pretty weasely way of saying he was no longer a friend at the time of his death. Might have something to do with Bush’s ever increasing embrace of leftism which came into full bloom post-presidency.
Generally speaking I don’t think w has as many friends as he thinks. One thing for sure, Rush never did to him what he did to President Trump that’s for sure....kinds wish he would have.

Even if he did, Rush was always a gentleman about W, and apparently, W doesn’t have the same class that Rush did.
Rush was a man who was outstanding among other men. I am grateful for all he gave us.
I smartened up just a bit and voted for Vice President Palin and a better 1st lady Mrs Romney, but if I had the chance I would have stayed home.
I am sick of the 28 wasted years between Reagan and Trump, none of um were worth a hill of beans, always the evil of 2 lessers.
I am sick they stole the last election, and now Rush is gone.

It would be educational for Bush to show up at a rally of conservatives. It would do him good to hear the volume of boos.
About halfway into Bush’s 2nd term, I came to the realization that, although I prayed fervently every day for him, and although I had lost friends and even paying clients for defending him, he had done NOTHING to defend himself. By extension, he did not defend me either.
President Trump ALWAYS defended his supporters, and does to this day.
That’s why I have no fear of being disappointed in President Trump, because he has been with us all the way, in spite of incredible, hateful, opposition.
I LOVE how he fights for us.
