Black employees at Apple, Bank of America, Capital One and Starbucks give high marks to the workplace culture at the companies, according to a report from Glassdoor that offers a sense of how minority workers are faring at some of America's best-known corporations.
The analysis of company ratings and ethnicity appears at a time when major companies, including Microsoft, Wells Fargo and Salesforce, have publicly vowed to increase diversity hiring and make their workplaces more welcoming to workers of color. Glassdoor researchers said their report, released Thursday, highlights companies that are making good on their commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Of the 28 companies analyzed in the report, Apple scored the highest rating, 4.2 out 5.0, from employees who self-identify as Black or African American.
"A stark reality of workplace culture is that not all employees experience culture in the same way," the Glassdoor report states. "The experiences of different demographic groups inside companies — employees of different races/ethnicities, gender identities, sexual orientation and more — are not all the same."
The Glassdoor survey also tallied ratings from Black employees at Amazon, Best Buy, IBM, Lowe's, McDonald's and other widely known brands. CVS Health, Macy's, Walgreen's and the U.S. Postal Service received the lowest ratings from Black employees, according to the report.
Although some companies fared better than others, Glassdoor said the survey results help job seekers and employers alike. Higher-rated companies like Apple could use the data for marketing campaigns and to recruit more diverse talent, said Stephanie Felix, Glassdoor's senior manager for diversity and inclusion.
Job seekers — particularly those of color — can use the survey when picking which companies to apply for work, she said.
"If we put the data out there, people will have a better understanding of what's happening at these organizations," Felix said.

I wonder if I can “identify” as African American?...
I slept with a PR girl, so can I be Hispanic?
Racist article
I wonder where I might find a poll for the best places to work for based on White Employees.
RACCISSSS!
Must have rubbed off !!
When the law says the most qualified candidate for the job is the one with the right skin tone I draw the line. This is how so many black women ended up in positions they aren’t qualified for. With them, you get a “twofer”: two protected minorities in one. Won’t be long until the only ones who can get a corporate job are black trannys.
Government employee — nothing more racist than the Deep State.
However, with the several black doctors I encountered there was one who was,IMO,an affirmative action hire. He was an outstanding man, polite, helpful,a very decent man in every way. But I got the distinct sense that his clinical skills weren't quite up to the world class standards typically seen there.I have no doubt that he met the minimum standards required to obtain, and hold,a license to practice but...
I must admit that whenever I see a black doctor, lawyer, cop, etc the question occurs to me "affirmative action?"
Any place that relies heavily on Mathematics.
I’ll wager that BET doesn’t hire based on color. Too well run.
Indeed. I worked for one at a startup years ago. I had been there for 3+ years then they hired her as my peer, promoted her to project mgr after 6mos. Two weeks later I quit, along with the entire project team. Because of her.
She was White racially, so I don’t know if it counts.
There was definitely rubbing though...
Diversity in all things, except thought, the only diversity that matters.
Where does Popeyes rank?
#1 on World Star Hip Hop.
I am surprised to see a high tech company like Apple in the list. I recall a high profile politician saying that blacks don’t know how to get online.
How about the best companies for Whites to work for in California, give that Whites are no longer a majority.
I cringe whenever I hear the word “minority” uttered in California - and know it is not and will never be used in reference to Whites.
I’d like to see the color of the coders, programmers and engineers who work for and keep World Star Hip Hop up and running.
Some will be H-1b visa holders, of course, but how many are black?
I’d guess not the majority.
Lol! The USPS? I remember attending a job fair for USPS with my brother. We were the only two white people there out of 100.
