Regardless of the cause, we had better get prepared because as global warming increases the earth will get colder and colder.
NAAAH! That LIEberal tree hugger is full of crap!
Buy a 15kva gas generator and a couple hundred gallons of gas!
Problem solved!
You forgot about the wood stove, fireplace insert with blower motor and of course, the outdoor wood furnace and radiant floor heating system.
I have a concept to suggest: Free Energy.
Cost is the biggest factor in adopting renewable technology, specifically solar. The price per solar panel must be low enough to make the up-front investment worth the extra price. Tesla cars are similar—they are expensive and one would have to drive hundreds of thousands of miles to make up the difference in their cost vs. a traditional sedan. Not against new things, they just have to make economic sense to people who have finite resources.
What lies.
I have exactly that, in Florida.
Batteries will only allow me to run fridges, little lights, and not much else. One can never expect to obtain heat from any battery bank. And I have 13 kw of LiFe storage onhand. A solar/battery installation can power motors and igniters to allow other fuels to operate in grid power failures. But one needs gas or coal or heating oil for the heat itself.
So first all you rubes have to go and buy an EV.(/sarcasm)
I guess so?
But, all the people that had gasoline and propane generators at home had power, and they can still drive after 3 days.
We’re gonna need a bigger Energizer Bunny if we’re going to keep Abilene warm in this kind of storm.
I wonder if this idiot is old enough to vote.
BTW this isn’t the first time that “green energy” fail brought down an entire grid. Happened in Australia a couple of years ago.
I once had a boss like him. “I can imagine it, therefor you can do it.” I didn’t last long, and neither did he. He ran his father’s business into liquidation about a year after I was fired.
D-bag and a 1/2.
Maint is incredible just from the cleaning required to keep them efficient.
and, what do you do with turbine blades when they wear out? Oh, right..just bury them in the ground, since they are not re-cyclable.
Meanwhile in TX. The coal fired plants that are still in operation are going on as if nothing is wrong.
Problem is, they cant keep up with demand as a result of the failure of those Whirly Bird choppers.
And not drive it while it's powering your house. Or just buy the battery, keep it charged and skip the car. Or save money and get a backup generator.
You just grab a broom, plunk your ladder onto the icy surface beneath the solar cells, hop up to the top step of the ladder, step onto the roof, and...
Whoops!
The problem with the arguments in the OP is this imo. Current rechargeable battery technology doesn’t hold power too well when it gets cold.
Correction welcome.
Yeah, because FR was first when it comes to cancelling ideas some disagree with.
Right up to Rock Candy Mountain.
