President Joe Biden said he believed a majority of kindergarteners through eighth graders would be back in school five days a week by the tail end of his first 100 days in office.
Biden said at a CNN town hall Tuesday night that reports about the aim being for students to be in school just once a week was 'a mistake in the communication.'
'But what I'm talking about is, I said opening the majority of schools in K through eighth grade, because they're the easiest to open and the most needed to be opened in terms of the impact on children and families having to stay home,' Biden explained.

Only to point this out...all schools in the nation are controlled/run...by state governments, not the federal apparatus.
So this is just another dose of Biden-chatter which goes nowhere.
I’d be curious what the Chicago teachers union says on his chatter.
Kids need to be back in school. They’re not learning via zoom and they’re getting depressed. Plus its really hurting family finances.
The problem isn’t covid, its teacher unions.
My great niece went from a 94 in math this time last year to a 37. She either will have to go to summer school or the family has to come up with $1100 for a tutor.

I’d say we should take this opportunity to push home schooling permanently to those who are doing it now.
Are you kidding? This is or should have been a golden opportunity to show that we don’t really need government indoctrination centers and they should be replaced by a much more varied decentralized system of homeschooling and private options tailored to the need of the individual.

The teachers arguments against home schooling and alternative schooling have been totally discredited by the teachers.
No schools open until the mask mandate (and in some cases, face shields and gloves) and social distancing mandate is removed.
Why are so many of you mask-holes all so adamant about teachers, staff and faculty wearing the extremely uncomfortable garbage 6 to 8 hours a day?

Why don’t YOU wear a face mask, face shields and gloves and try to deliver understandable content for 6 to 8 hours a day? Before demanding teachers and students be forced to do the same?

A ‘summer semester’ is not going to makeup for a years loss of classroom teaching.
Teachers should not be paid if they’re not teaching....period.

There are plenty of people working 8 hours a day in masks and constantly communicating with customers all day what the hell makes a teacher so special that they can’t possibly do it??
Gone on way too long. We are past due for property tax revolts.
Let’s all agree that masks (and plexiglass) are useless? Especially with children.

yes and “teachers” as a whole are so proficient at acheiving their goals /s. In the private sector, overpaid, underperforming slugs are let go for non performance. Govt. employees like teachers are rewarded for underperformance
This is in the bag.......The Teacher Union bosses have already agreed.....
The agreement is that the unions continue to resist until late February when Biden sweeps in and “negotiates” a compromise with the unions......
This accomplishes two political points:
First, it would give the appearance that Biden is not beholden to the Teachers Unions, is independent, and a master negotiater.
Secondly, the vast majority of parents in the US would be beholden to him.
Watch for either a “Teachers Summit” called at the Whitehouse or an announced conference call between the Union bosses and Biden in the next few weeks.
This is pre-determined folks!
This is truly political Kabuki theater......
