POLK COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — A Polk County man shot and killed a suspected burglar outside his Frostproof home Sunday morning.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office said Jory Plummer burglarized a home in his neighborhood where a husband, wife, and their three children were sleeping.
Deputies said the wife heard banging on the front door and woke up her husband, who went to the front of the house to check on the noise. The husband found their front door had been forced open and immediately armed himself with a handgun.
The man said he found the suspected burglar, Plummer, in his front yard “out of control” and yelling curse words at him. Deputies said the husband told Plummer multiple times to go home.
The man said Plummer began to run at him, so he fired one round of his gun, hitting him. Plummer reportedly began walking away, but turned around and charged at the husband again. The man shot Plummer a second time.
First responders transported the suspected burglar to Sebring Hospital where he died.

Sounds like he could have been a *looter*.
People under the influence of drugs or alcohol are not the most rational.
Excellent GUN CONTROL..... As it should be!
He was a mostly peaceful home invader.
Gov. DeSantis Of Florida is my kind leader.. He stands strong for law and order, the right to defend yourself, your family and property..
And just think, the brilliant minds in DC are looking to legalize drugs while stripping away the right of self defense. Nothing could possibly go wrong with that plan.
Probably on spice or pcp, both are used heavily in the negro community.
Great gun control....the only gun control that is needed...
Interestingly enough under common law, that’s exactly what he was. A Burglar.
Burglary is technically defined under common law as breaking and entering into an occupied dwelling at night.
Penalties were increased when a charge of burglary was made, because people are usually asleep, and unable to defend themselves. “Night” from e purposes of a burglary charge was defined as that period of time from dusk to dawn, when a persons facial features could not be distinguished. In other words, not enough light to determine or recognize an individual.
Frostproof has seen quite some action this past year.
Was hoping to see a video of Sheriff Grady Judd giving a press briefing.
I will tell ya now it’s not just the Gov. here in Florida although he is doing a great job. This happened in Polk county. I live here, our sheriff does NOT play around. He tells us all to arm ourselves and if someone breaks into your house to blow them out the front door. He is big on us having firearms but being responsible. Like other states and towns we have people with drug problems and depending on what he was on they get nuts. You get shot once and come back for more means he was not going to stop. I am glad the home owners family was not injured.
I love Grady Judd. He will make sure the home owner gets his gun back. And his press conferences are the best.
People new to guns and self defense need to be aware that not all jurisdictions are so open to shooting burglars outside the house.
The sheriff in this county is a strong believer in the right to defend yourself. Sheriffs in adjoining counties? Not so much.
Similar incidents in this county have resulted in our sheriff announcing that most of us are armed and burglars will more than likely get shot. The county south of us has put shooters in jail under the same circumstances.
Local prosecutors vary as well.
Know your local laws and know how your local law enforcement interprets the laws.
Thank you for that reminder. I just reviewed my state's laws. I would encourage all others on FR to do the same.
Glad to meet another Polk County person. I agree with everything you said. My wife was a executive at a Disney resort and was in on many meetings for security reasons and met with these counties sheriffs and they all said they can’t say the things Judd says and act the same way. Likely because of political reasons.
We need to clone him, somehow.
I am not from Polk country or FL.
Read my post again....slowly.
