Senator Richard M. Burr’s decision to vote for the conviction of former President Donald J. Trump on Saturday added fuel to speculation that Lara Trump, Mr. Trump’s daughter in-law, will seek the North Carolina Senate seat Mr. Burr will vacate in 2022.

It would be poetic justice of the most fitting kind if Lara Trump were to run for and fill Richard Burr’s son-to-be-vacated seat.
Donald J. Trump does not lose. He either wins, or has a learning experience, but do not mistake that for “losing”.
Team Trump can certainly have Lara well prepared to fill that seat in the time allotted, between now and November 2022.
I thought Richard Burr was retiring anyways in 2022. Although this doesn’t mean that his betrayal won’t be an issue in the Republican nomination. There’s no doubt that the man is radioactive now among North Carolina Republicans.
I believe, Toomey have already decided not to run in 2022.
