One of the good things about these laws is that there is no ‘list’ of people who have licenses, if Romney types were to breed and start taking over government, they wouldn’t have a way to publish the list and therefore they wouldn’t be able to put the lives of gun owners at risk (something they’ve already done in the Northeast).
How does getting rid of the permit affect reciprocity with other states?
Two good choices...
Yep. We need to get this in Texas as well.
I know that in Wyoming there is no permit required. But if you are traveling and another state requires "proof", Wyoming will automatically give you a piece of paper that says you can carry.
Good point...
Eff Mittens!
As a Constitutional Carry state, Arizona does not require a Concealed Carry Permit for any type of carry. However, they offer one based upon an 8 hour class and a qualification at the range.
This does two things. Where Federal statutes require a CC Permit for one reason or another (within a thousand feet of a school for instance) a person can have such a permit and avoid federal liability when there is no state liability. Secondly, it is reciprocal with those states that wish to issue such reciprocity — I think over 34 as of today. if I carry without such a permit in those states I may be risking commission of a felony and certainly putting myself on unsound ground if I should need my weapon. Valid permits are what is needed if you want to carry outside your state.
It also demonstrates to the court you have taken the responsibility seriously and studied the proper handling and uses. Extra points in court don’t hurt if you have to defend yourself. Mossad Ayoob is a good source for how to do the self defense thing right. IMHO
additionally for you and others. here is a good resource for reciprocity issues:

Click on your state and see reciprocity and follow other links for details of interest.
Some states, like Arizona, issue CCL to non-residents so look at other states your frequently visit of vacation within and see if you can have a CCL more easily obtainable if your location is onerous in its requirements.
I agree, thanks
How does getting rid of the permit affect reciprocity with other states?
Some states only allow residents to carry concealed without permits, but others allow anyone who can legally possess a firearm to carry concealed.
Fun fact. The City & County of San Francisco currently has 2 concealed carry permits issued with 2 more in process.
Best gun fight you are ever in is the one “you were never in”. Ayoob points that out.
