Lisa Murkowski and Bill Cassidy look a little silly now for thinking the Democrats in the House had such a “damning” and “persuasive” case as grounds for impeachment. I can’t speak for the other turncoat Republicans in the Senate (and the House, for that matter), but I suspect a great deal of intimidation went on behind the scenes.
Once upon a time there was a term, “logrolling”, which was meant to explain the mutual backscratching and handshake deals that went on in the lobbies of Congress, but today that is simply reduced to “rolling”, as a mugging victim might be.
And this Mafioso-like behavior is not merely directed at the elected officials of the legislative branch, by any means. It is all up and down the DC environment.
.... Too bad they didn’t bother to add a few clips of Biden using that term .....
