I agree. And Telegram has not been audited. The two Russian brothers that own it(!) won’t post the source code. It has never been thoroughly audited by a neutral party. Nobody can say there are no backdoors.

Another big red flag is that they are using 'roll-your-own' (i.e., proprietary) crypto protocols. That is a huge no-no. There are plenty of well-known, well-studied protocols out there. Only morons think they can do better by creating their own. Obscurity <> security
