Hogg’s “business partner” is a piece of work as well. They did end up getting a logo, website, and a heap of friendly media. It’s beyond vaporware at this point though, they just have a logo and a list of people who say they want a pillow (including “influencers” but only influencers with 100k+ followers, but nobody who has actually put down a deposit)
They have a list of demands: a factory (so long as it’s not California because cost of living is too high), a unionized workforce (they probably don’t even know which unions represent textile workers, much less have they made any actual reach out other than whiny tweets and instagram videos), and a list of grievances. They also think they’ll have everything up and running and selling millions of dollars worth of pillows in two or three months.
Does anyone think they know anything about making pillows? Does anyone think these children have ever even sat behind a sewing machine or set foot inside a factory (maybe on a school field trip)? Does anyone think these kids even have a single friend who works in a factory?
All they have is friendly media, a grievance, delusions of competence, and a capacity to have rich liberals throw money at the venture so they can turn around and throw that money at consultants, salesmen, and grifters who know a sucker when they see one.
No, no, and no. :-)
On the other hand, maybe these misguided kids will learn something about business now. For example, maybe now they'll understand why a business must remain profitable.
Oh, never mind. Who am I kidding? These kids will never learn anything. They're a lost cause. lol
IF their pillow business even gets off the ground, bet their pillow ads will go like this: "Hello. David Hogg here. Every time you buy one of our pillows, you support union jobs and social justice causes. Be socially responsible. Buy our pillows!"
This is hilarious. I could design a better logo in 2, maybe 3 hours tops, using freaking Irfanview and LibreOffice. It’d go even better and faster if I brushed up on CorelDraw or Adobe Illustrator. (IF my old(!) CorelDraw program will even run on Win XP or later!) (Yeah, it might take some serious brushing up...)
My HS age daughter could probably run rings around me (she was doing a lot of computer based drawing and graphics for a while.)
