Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.) on Tuesday panned the arguments made by former President Trump's legal team, saying that House Democrats made a more compelling case that the impeachment proceeding is constitutional.
"I said I'd be an impartial juror. Anyone listening to those arguments — the House managers were focused. They were organized. They relied upon both precedent, the constitution and legal scholars. They made a compelling reason. President Trump's team were disorganized," he said.

factually and demonstrably incorrect. republicans gained seats in the house, and were set to hold the senate until the boycotting weirdos starting wetting their dresses.
I don’t blame rank and file republicans. I blame people like you. and the hilarious part is that you’re making my argument for me — right here, right this minute, in this thread.
enjoy your revolution in a teapot. it’s all you’ll ever muster.

In 2014, Cassidy defeated Democratic incumbent Mary Landrieu to represent Louisiana in the U.S. Senate, becoming the first Republican to hold the seat since Reconstruction.
He was re-elected in 2020.

Highlighting the insufferable alignment of the two wings of the UniParty bird, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell allowed, permitted, and grinned as six GOP senators concurred with leftist democrats that impeachment of a former President is constitutional… Pro Tip: it ain’t.
Republican Senators:
- Bill Cassidy (LA),
- Lisa Murkowski (AK),
- Mitt Romney (UT),
- Susan Collings (ME),
- Ben Sasse (NE) and
- Pat Toomey (PA)
aligned with the usurpation:
To see evidence of the constitutional quagmire one only has to look at Chief Justice John Roberts’ refusal to participate in the impeachment trial. Despite his own ideological progressiveness, even Roberts couldn’t bring himself to compromise the baseline of the Judicial Branch role in determining constitutional issues around impeachment.
The entire system in DC is operating outside the constitutional framework… FUBAR.

Trump won Louisiana by a fairly large margin. I imagine his constituents are pissed off.

The Pubbies heard a meticulous case against impeaching a president out of office. Trump’s lawyers cited the Dems’ effort to use several historical examples from British and American history to impeach and disqualify former office holders. All such efforts failed, including WIlliam W. Belknap, who resigned from offce. The Senate rejected Belknap’s impeachment because the Senate lacked jurisdiction to try a former official. The case for the unconstitutionality of impeaching President Trump even went into the Dems’ House case as a Bill of Attainder in violation of Article 1, Sec. 9. Cl. 3 of the United States Constitution: “No bill of attainder or ex post facto Law shall be passed.”
Those who had determined to push the process forward were not interested in the details. They might have slept through Trump’s legal team’s case for ending this kangaroo show trial. Maybe they slept just like they did through their pre-law classes on the Constitution. Why listen to the facts when they had their minds made up? Today they must have slept and dreamed of dinner bells and champagne dancing in their heads. Ding dong!

Loeffler and Perdue voted to certify the stolen election. It takes a special type of mental illness to knowingly vote for the very people who disenfranchise you. Loeffler and Perdue deserved to lose and did.

Do RINOS only vote for RINOs? Nope. They’re happy to vote for a Democrat to defeat a conservative. What’s good for the goose applies in spades here.

Sheesh people, Cassidy is one of our guys and just tells it like it is. The Dems can and are a total farce but that doesn’t mean they are not convincing. It’s what lawyers and debaters all do. Cassidy is one of the most plain spoken down to earth and funny guys on the hill. Like trump or not no one can work for him and it’s not hard to believe what he said about trumps team. Doesn’t need to be said, but trump shouldn’t give others room to undermine his cause.
