Trump Impeachment Trial Has ‘Zero’ Chance of Conviction: Sen. Rand Paul
Epoch Times ^ | 02/07/2021 | Jack Phillips

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) said that the looming impeachment trial of former President Donald Trump has virtually no chance of success.

“If we’re going to criminalize speech, and somehow impeach everybody who says, ‘Go fight to hear your voices heard,’ I mean really we ought to impeach Chuck Schumer then,” Paul told Fox News on Sunday, echoing arguments that he made last month during a procedural vote against holding the trial. Forty-five Republican senators voted against holding the trial, strongly suggesting the former president will not be convicted.

The Senate requires at least 67 votes to convict a president during an impeachment trial, while the House only needs a simple majority. Meanwhile, any GOP senator who joins Democrats in voting to convict will likely face intense blowback from their constituents and local Republican Party chapters.

Paul noted that under the same standard posited by Democrats, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) should be impeached.

Schumer, the Kentucky Republican said, “went to the Supreme Court, stood in front of the Supreme Court and said specifically, ‘Hey Gorsuch, Hey Kavanaugh, you’ve unleashed a whirlwind. And you’re going to pay the price.'”

“This inflammatory wording, this violent rhetoric of Chuck Schumer was so bad that the chief justice, who rarely says anything publicly, immediately said this kind of language is dangerous as a mob tried to invade the Supreme Court,” Paul continued to say.

The Commies will open the hearing with a guilty verdict and close proceedings before the Presidents team can open their mouths. Sentencing will be in double clandestine top secret session later.

Spot on Rand Paul, absolutely telling it like it is. Why wasn't Schumer arrested for threatening the justices AND inciting violence???

Everyone should recall when Punk Schumer did that.

I thought it was one of the most nauseating things he could have ever done, as he basically threatened the Court with their lives.

Trump did nothing even vaguely close to that.

I’ll wager that McConnell and his swamp creatures will attempt a Bill of Attainder - in spite of a non-conviction vote. They’ll attempt to prevent Trump from ever holding public office again ... If they make that attempt, the GOP will be finished.

Schumer, the Kentucky Republican said, “went to the Supreme Court, stood in front of the Supreme Court and said specifically, ‘Hey Gorsuch, Hey Kavanaugh, you’ve unleashed a whirlwind. And you’re going to pay the price.'”

What Schumer said was a DIRECT threat against specific Supreme Court Justices and NOTHING was done about it. In a court of law, if Schumer is not prosecuted, no one else can be either.

Historians will look back on this impeachment hearing and proclaim it to be a mockery of epic proportions. It will become the gold standard for political overreach.

Schumer warns Kavanaugh and Gorsuch they will ‘pay the price’ (old, but valid news)
The Hill ^ | 4 March 2020 | J. Edward Moreno

Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) said the two Trump-appointed conservative Supreme Court justices “will pay the price” for “awful decisions” in abortion rights cases.

Schumer addressed justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh in front of a crowd at the Supreme Court and appeared to threaten Senate Republicans and the administration if the court voted in favor of the Louisiana abortion law that could result in the court revisiting the protections provided in the Roe v. Wade ruling.

“I want to tell you, Justice Kavanaugh and Justice Gorsuch, you have unleashed a whirlwind, and you will pay the price,” Schumer said as the judges hear opening arguments on the case Wednesday. “You won’t know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions.”

McConnell desperately wants the senate to convict Trump so that the Cheneys and Romneys can take over the party.

If there is a secret vote, no doubt that McConnell will get many senators on board.

Bush League Republicans never lost control of the party.

If there is a secret vote they will convict.

I don’t think there can be, so I expect a quick acquittal.
