House Republican Conference Chair Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., said she will remain in office and in her position as one of the highest ranking Republicans in Congress. despite opposition following her vote to impeach former President Donald Trump.
After House Republicans voted not to remove Cheney from her leadership position, the Wyoming Republican Party censured her on Saturday and called for her to resign. On Sunday, Cheney made clear she has no plans to do so.
"I'm not," Cheney told "Fox News Sunday" host Chris Wallace. "Look I think people all across Wyoming understand and recognize that our most important duty is to the Constitution. And as I've explained and will continue to explain to supporters all across the state, voters all across the state, the oath that I took to the Constitution compelled me to vote for impeachment, and it doesn't bend to partisanship, it doesn't bend to political pressure, it's the most important oath that we take."
Cheney went on to criticize her state party for their censure, accusing them of believing conspiracy theories about the election and the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol that she says are just not true.

While that's true, Ms. Cheney, your second responsibility is to represent the wishes of your constituency -- and those wishes were far more Constitutional than your tortured interpretation.

Work on what? We Trump supporters have done all the work to push people like you aside. You don't represent us any longer. You have made that choice. We don't want you "working" to drag the party back to its failures.

This is a stone cold lie. This "impeachment" is as unconstitutional as it gets. Cheney either is stupid and ignorant about the Constitution, or she has corrupt reasons to vote for it. Probably she is both ignorant and corrupt. Most politicians are scum, but the likes of Cheney go far deeper than scum. They are down beneath slimy ooze to a place where light and truth never reach.
Cool, no vote for a republican not a single penny from me if she’s a leader. Sue me.
Cheney is my rep and she is really pissing me off. Her definition of the Constitution is not mine. She is hiding behind her definition and using it to justify her actions like Romney used his religion to support his vote to impeach Trump the first time. Cheney is a deep swamp creature who knows nothing about Wy and has zero concept of anything outside the swamp. I did not vote for her the last two times and will work against her in 2022. But even the Wy GOP never fails to disappoint and will likely let Cheney fill the field with non-starter primary candidates to split the vote thus letting her win on name recognition. That is the way the game is played. We’ve seen it throughout the country. If the Wy GOP plays strong and allows one challenger, Cheney is gone. If not, she’ll likely win — but not with my vote.
