SpaceX announced plans to send everyday civilians to space as part of its Inspiration4 mission commanded by tech entrepreneur and pilot Jared Isaacman.
Isaacman, founder and Chief Executive Officer of Shrft4 Payments, is donating three seats on the Inspiration4 to travel along with him on a mission designed to raise awareness and support for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, according to a press release.
...
The second seat represents the mission's "pillar of Generosity." Throughout February, the public can enter for a chance to secure a seat on the historic flight by donating $10 or more to support St. Jude's research efforts.

Prize includes amount to cover taxes. Requirements for the winner are pretty reasonable. Must be: American, 18+ (no upper age limit), under 6’6”, < 250 pounds, in decent overall health, and can pass a background check. And if you win and don’t qualify or don’t wish to go, you’re allowed to name a replacement.
They’ll probably die, but I’m in.
When is the FAA going to let them launch again?...
^
We are in space.
Sorry, prize expired. Biden is cancelling SpaceX.
I would be supportive of this idea but I’m afraid they would just come back.
Don’t know your source of info but SpaceX is not cancelled.
“Don’t know your source of info but SpaceX is not cancelled.”
But the landing of the starliner booster exploded, and the FAA halted any future tests until they can “investigate”.
I’m sure the FAA isn’t political, and they simply want to help. /s
I hardly think that Elon Musk would suddenly stop SpaceX.
This is for a trip in the Crewed Dragon, which by the time they do this will have flown 4 or 5 times and back with people on it. The Falcon 9 is extremely proven. At this point I’d give it a shot. I dunno about Starship though..
“I hardly think that Elon Musk would suddenly stop SpaceX.”
Yeah, the government wouldn’t harass him. Heck, they promised to be open and honest, right?
What about Biden’s FAA?
I thought Biden is in the process of shutting down SpaceX, due to their competition against China. Or am I missing something?
Elon is the richest man in the world right now. If he wants to he could probably go offsite entirely and continue.
SN9 was delayed a few days due to SN8 not having proper clearances but it turn out to be a paperwork snafu. Post SN9, the FAA will be working with SpaceX to determine the cause of the mishap though Elon and company probably already know the root cause and will the delay in going forward with SN10 (already on launch pad) should not be too delayed. SpaceX has other projects and/or operational missions that are moving forward so the FAA’s involvement is a minor inconvenience and not the end of SpaceX as posted in other articles I’ve seen posted here and on the space news outlets.
Your missing real facts vice the mud being slung by the MSM — SpaceX is moving forward and China is not going to catch up in the foreseeable future as shown with their latest attempt at reusable booster technology (it went boom seconds into it’s launch).
“Elon is the richest man in the world right now. If he wants to he could probably go offsite entirely and continue.”
I know. And most likely, he’ll have to. He has a huge investment in TX, but I don’t think the current administration is friendly to private entities out performing the government, (NASA). Of course, with the give aways, there will be no budget for NASA. Commies would rather have nothing happen than to be shown up.
” ... the FAA’s involvement is a minor inconvenience and not the end of SpaceX as posted in other articles I’ve seen posted here and on the space news outlets.”
I hope you’re right, but I doubt it. Why would the FAA be involved versus NASA? The FAA has rocketry experience and expertise? I smell a rat, a big rat, at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
That’s totally a story by greedy fake news milking conservatives who are way to eager to lap up any story that is anti-government. I agree there are seriously good reasons to be suspicious of everything coming out of agencies.
But we have a problem with conservative misinfo out there. Qanon was a means to corrall people into positions that were counterproductive to fighting communism.
I think a lot of conservative blog media is beginning to fall into the same echo chamber problems liberal media is suffering from.
American Thinker and GP remain the two sloppiest, poorly-edited, and Bush league website on this side of the spectrum. FReepers do me a huge favor posting excepts so I can quickly skim and know what NOT to believe.
