“The state now expects to complete construction on a 119-mile segment of track from Bakersfield to Madera in the Central Valley by 2023, Kelly wrote.”

Given where they’re running, have they stated whether their target ridership is humans or livestock?

“Just don’t ask me to pay for it.”

They won’t. It will be your grandchildren who get the bill, but we’ll still have our Social Security.

119 miles of track costing $13.8 billion dollars. That comes out to $115,966,386.54 per mile. But they can’t fix the pot holes in California’s highways and streets.

High Speed Rail Project Executive Officer Brian Kelly is suffering like the rest of us.

Your tax dollars, no tax BILLION$ at work! Brian is the epitome of a true suffering Civil Servant ... He serves, we suffer!

Robert Heinlein had some pithy truisms that apply here;
"In a mature society, 'civil servant' is semantically equal to 'civil master.' "
"Cheops' Law: Nothing ever gets built on schedule or within budget."
and
"An elephant: A mouse built to government specifications."

It would be cheaper to give people free airplane tickets to make the high speed trip from LA to Sacramento, the alleged purpose of the Bulllit Train.

What is the California high speed rail project? It is a way to buy off Republican contractors with payola of construction contracts.

Even, our unborn great/great grand kids will never see the

High Speed Rail Project up and running.

It is typical Californicator B$.

They raise millions of $’s and it gets spent on salaries and the acquisition of worthless land at outrageous sums.

They could have also built a truck freeway parallel to I-5 which would have doubled lane capacity, greatly reduced accidents, and thereby greatly helped the economy there.

...but they elected Democrats.

Back around 20 years ago in Germany, a high-speed rail was built from Cologne to the Frankfurt Airport. When it was finally done....they came to the ticket cost factor. It was so expensive for a 190 km (118 miles) trip that they simply made this a first-class ticket (regular people wouldn’t pay the outrageous price for 1-hour ticket). The same will be true in this case....where it makes no sense to pay for what is cheaper via air travel.

So now their governor is looking at a RECALL ELECTION.

The obvious question will be whether the Republican promises to cancel the train, or whether the Republican listens to Carl Rove, who will tell him that the issue is ‘too divisive’ and instead frames his campaign like the rest of the GOP, which is: “Better schools for better children” or something like that.

Just don’t ask me to pay for it.

When's the last time pols asked if you wanted them to grab and then waste your money? Indirectly by our "representatives" who are there because we are farming and lumbering and all that and send others to debate bills? Like Jimmy Stewart in Mr.Smith Goes to Washington? Except they are corrupt, cowardly self-absorbed careerists who don't give a (thought) about us at home.

A friend said that the High Speed from no where to no where was to provide air conditioned free travel for the illegals to go to Sac and sign up for benefits.

At the very beginning of AOC pushing the New Green Deal she said there would be railroad lines across the Pacific Ocean..

Later the drafts were apparently destroyed and the revised versions made vague statements instead.

I’m still waiting for the train rides over the ocean. Send an honorary first ride contingent of all the top Dems after a ribbon cutting ceremony. The DC science experts say it will work./s
