The US Embassy in Kyiv has denied that it advised Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to close 112 Ukraine, NewsOne and ZіK TV channels.

Zelensky put into effect the decision of the National Security and Defense Council on five-year sanctions against 112 Ukraine, NewsOne and ZіK TV channels and the Verkhovna Rada deputy from the Opposition Platform - For Life party Taras Kozak who owns them on February 2. Journalist Kyrylo Vyshynsky drew attention to the fact that this happened shortly after Zelensky's visit to the US Embassy, where he watched the broadcast of Joe Biden's inauguration. "Any information that the United States has provided instructions or recommendations to close these channels is categorically untrue. You can check your sources on this matter," a representative of the embassy said.
