What’s Left Of The ‘Mainstream’ Republican Party Is Looking Around And Getting Nervous

The ascendancy of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), and Republicans’ lack of willpower to punish her, speaks volumes about where the party still is even after President Donald Trump’s defeat.

Only 11 Republicans joined the entire House Democratic caucus to strip her of her committees Thursday night; by contrast, 61 Republicans voted to demote Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) for voting to impeach Trump for inciting the Capitol attack.

That the Trump-Greene sect of the party has such power and support does not necessarily portend future electoral success. After all, during Trump’s term alone, Republicans lost the House, Senate and White House. In particular, they lost both seats in a double-barrel Georgia Senate runoff that, by all historical precedent, they should have won.

With the 2022 midterms on the horizon, again a cycle that historical trends suggest should be good for the GOP, there is a niggling concern that the loud, extremist part of the party could give Democrats their best shot at staving off the onslaught.

Three republicans that voted with the rats are from South Florida (FL-25,26 & 27) which should tell you something about the weak leadership in the House. Also, having a secret vote on the Cheney issue indicates just how weak and ineffective Kevin McCarthy really is.

“Reining in Democrats is the biggest job Republicans face.”

I would offer an alternative to this. First of all, ‘republicans’ as it turns out are a part of the problem. The most important accomplishment of the trump administration was to expose these two face weasel republicans. But i think reining them in would be a mistake. That would only give them cover to push their agenda in secret again. A ‘fig leaf’ of representation as they screw down their fascism on the compliant populations. On the contrary, i hope that the republicans stay out of the way and allow the democrats to push the burning hulk of this current societal zeitgeist over the cliff and into a full on socialist utopia. Give americans a FULL MEASURE of Stalinist Maoism and see if that wakes them up.

To resist their agenda is to take it in the face. That’s exactly what they want. The smart play is to Pivot, Step aside from the punch, grab their arm, put your hand behind their shoulder and use their momentum to propel the face of evil into the wall.

But you have to want to kill it as badly as they want to kill you. Else it’s a waste of energy.

The DC establishment has gotten really bold in declaring that they are only ones to decide who the people are allowed to elect or not, both in this case and the show trial of Trump.

Nice take....I like your analogy:

The smart play is to Pivot, Step aside from the punch, grab their arm, put your hand
behind their shoulder and use their momentum to propel the face of evil into the wall.

Using THEIR momentum. We must remember that....that's a money play.

Odd...

The words “fraud” and “stolen” were never mentioned in her article.

The mainstream Republican Party is like that endangered species of birds whose only few survivors were all males.

The sooner the RINOs are flushed down the toilet of history, the better.

The leaders are marching forward but the followers have deserted in
favor of a fellow conservative Donald Trump. When they have the time to turn around the leaders will be in full panic mode... Our country needs for true Christian believers and conservative folks to stand. Just stop and stand. The opposition will hang themselves.

The students who spent trillions of dollars on student loans learning critical race theory are now in control of the Dems and are funded by Wall Street, Media and other one worlders.

MAGA must become the dominant political opposition representing working class Americans. “Republicans” can come along or not.

Hey, the Bush admin had some college girl helping to write the new Iraqi constitution... until she was blown up there. The elites think they can run the world.

It can not only get worse - it can get worse beyond anything you can imagine.

Every word of your post is well and truly said, but sadly, the majority of people in this country today are like blind people walking directly toward the edge of a thousand-foot cliff with no safety railings.
