The National Instant background Check System (NICS) set a record for the most checks done in any month, ever, since the system started in 1998. There were a total NICS 4,317,804 checks done in January. The next highest month was in December of 2020, with 3,937,066 checks.
NICS and Gun Sales in January 2021 sets New Record
As readers of this correspondent know, an increasing number of NICS checks are done for things other than gun sales, primarily for gun carry permits and permit rechecks. The formula used to approximate the number of actual gun sales uses numbers supplied by the FBI.
Using that formula the, number of guns sold was about 2.018 million in January of 2021. The number sold in December of 2020, last month, was about 1.90 million. The highest number of guns sold in any month, as recorded by NICS, was in December of 2015, when about 2.22 million were sold.
Most January sales have dropped off after the Christmas/end of year rush. This year sales increased. Here are some previous January gun sales levels, as estimated by NICS numbers:
Most popular models of firearms, and many not so popular models, are difficult to find in retail stores, or online.
Obtaining ammunition requires diligent searching, and the willingness/ability to pay much higher than normal prices for nearly all calibers.
This is the first time, ever, this correspondent has seen a shortage

The demand is far greater than the supply.

Hey marxine waters...what ya gonna do? Jail us all?
Another area of shortage, long term non traditional gun storage bags. I can’t find these anywhere. Half of my firearms and most ammo is about to go into a 3-5 year hibernation. I think we should get beyond yucking it up about boat accidents. One had best have answers when asked by BATF or IRS where that WASR 10 you bought in 2010 is.

On 12/22/2020 I managed to snag 5,000 Federal small pistol primers for $219 plus tax and shipping. I'd sure like to snag some more large pistol primers and some more of my go-to powder, Alliant Unique.
But even as new shooters are buying up guns and ammo, they're getting into reloading.
Add to the above the Chink Virus and we've got some major supply issues that aren't going to go away anytime soon.
And, add to all that, the fact that we've got a new batch of anti American whores and pimps in Kongress and the white hut, and these might just be "the good old days."
Fixed it.

I’ve been having good luck with pawn shops.
Behold...my tagline applies.
RE: your tagline...
You’re assuming most Americans won’t turn around and forfeit those newly-acquired guns when faced with an armed squad of BLM ATF agents backed by MRAPs.
If you can get them.
Some armed Americans will.
There is currently one law enforcement officer for every 19,000 of us.
If they’re rolling with antifa and blm, that might bring it up to two.
Logistically, it would be impossible for them to seize them all.
Add to that the elected sheriffs who obey the constitution standing with the innocent armed American refusing to give up his weapons.
Compliance with the New York safe act is in the single digits.
Colorado has a ban on magazines that hold more than 15 rounds. But, I can drive to the nearest gun shop and pick up 30 to 40 round magazines today.
A few months ago, I had my guy order two 30 round magazines for my Beretta 92.
Nobody is going to be enforcing these idiotic laws.
Hopefully the ones that do get voted out of office.
Or recalled.
Those are for the Trump years. It would be interesting to see a few of Obozo’s years added to that.
Thanks!
There communist scumbags in co bread will not be satisfied untill there is a civil warl
“You’re assuming most Americans won’t turn around and forfeit those newly-acquired guns when faced with an armed squad of BLM ATF agents backed by MRAPs.”
And you’re assuming that Fedzilla is not only omnipotent but already knows where all the guns are.
That was true in UK & Oz, but America has 400 million plus unregistered guns. Is BATF going to kick in every door in America?
They don’t have to. They’ll make a spectacle of it like they did in Waco in the 90s. The sheep will cower and obey, and the wolves will go into hiding. The Dems are playing the long game. Any reaction by an armed group of Americans will be played as “insurrection” across every major media outlet, and they’ll tighten the noose.
They will go the British route if we allow for registration.
Slowly, slowly. In two generations, the great grand kids will be horrified to find a forbidden pump shotgun hidden in grandpa's attack.
They will gratefully call the police to come and pick it up, and expect to get a "good citizen" mark on their secret digital file.

Looks to me like all the gestapo Rambos are building barriers in DC and hiding behind the unarmed national guard.
Politicians have always historically cowered behind their military. Purging the military of anti-establishment types is the first step to ensuring the military will obey their every command. In WWII, the Luftwaffe was left alone for most of the war, and the rank and file flew by a code of honor. It wasn’t until the Nazis got desperate that they started injecting policy wonks into command ranks to ensure compliance, but what happened in the air stayed in the air.
Once the military ranks are purged of the rank and file, they’ll implement sycophants across the ranks, likely pulled from BLM militants, who will then do their bidding up to and including murder of Americans. It’s happened throughout history, and to think it won’t happen here is to be blind to history.
