It would have been more believable if the Nimitz had been transported to the Adriatic Sea, dropped hard, and sinks a few miles off shore, the crew having to swim for shore with only the clothes on their back. Once on shore they are captured by a Roman legion.
When asked who their leader is, they one by one, announce......

Actually, considering the motion of the earth rotating and orbiting the sun, the sun orbiting the galactic core, and the galaxy moving thru the universe...the Nimitz would have most likely arrived in empty space.
