U.S. Senate Democrats prepare to push through Biden's $1.9 trillion COVID-19 package

WASHINGTON - Democrats in the U.S. Senate were poised on Thursday to take a first step toward President Joe Biden’s $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief proposal, in a marathon “vote-a-rama” session aimed at overriding Republican opposition to the package.

Senate Democrats need to pass a budget resolution to unlock a legislative tool called reconciliation, which would allow them to approve Biden’s proposal in the narrowly divided chamber with a simple majority.

Most legislation must get at least 60 votes in the 100-seat Senate to pass. But the chamber is divided 50-50 and Republicans oppose the Democratic president’s proposal. Reconciliation would allow the Senate’s 48 Democrats and two independents to approve the relief package with a tie-breaking vote from Vice President Kamala Harris.

Senate Democrats and the Biden administration have left the door open to Republican participation but have said they want comprehensive legislation to move quickly to address a pandemic that has killed over 450,000 Americans and left millions more jobless.

Thank goodness, I was worried that the retired state workers and teachers in New York might have a reduction in their extremely generous retirement pay and medical.

Don’t forget the help they are going to get from the go-along party. I’m sure they are standing in line waiting.

We Trump states are going to get the pleasure of paying the bills for shutdown states like NY, California, Michigan, etc. . . . It is outright theft, not COVID relief. Evil is piling up.

I heard this morning on local SA radio that they have over $1T from the LAST stimulus that hasn’t been spent yet. This is pure vote-buying.

50k earnings limit for stimulus. So again I ask why even work. Basically the so called “poor” (by choice) will be looting Walmart and spending their reparations cash. I’m so sick of Xidens America. So while I work to pay health care, mortgage, phone bill, etc. certain disenfranchised segments of society just lay on the a&&es and get off free.

It's too late folks. $30 trillion in debt with $159 trillion in unfunded liabilities, few countries purchasing fewer and fewer government bonds, federal reserve carrying this debt on their balance sheet, $$$ printing printing printing $$$, yet another $2 trillion stimulus, climate greenie weenie deals and re-engagement in foreign war...I believe we are at a point of no return.

No one...republican nor democrat (well maybe Rand Paul) is even talking about budget cuts, balanced budget amendment...it's just Weeeeeeeeee spend spend spend. lol

A hike in taxes, oil / fuel prices, a slowing economy will inevitably lead to higher inflation..perhaps even hyperinflation which will lead to sideways stock market and higher borrowing cost...dragging economy like we witnessed in Obozo’s years.

I say all that to say this...let it crash. Let it. Suck as much $$ out of the ferrules as you can. Use it wisely.

The faster folks see what these people are doing to us, the faster they'll scream bloody murder and demand change.

Just my take.
