New York Times: W.H.O. experts investigating the origin of the virus visit a lab in Wuhan
NYT ^ | Feb 3 | By Javier C. Hernández and Sui-Lee Wee

A team of experts from the World Health Organization investigating the origins of the pandemic visited a research center in Wuhan, China, on Wednesday that has been a focus of several unfounded theories about the coronavirus.

The W.H.O. scientists met with staff members at the center, the Wuhan Institute of Virology, which houses a state-of-the-art laboratory known for its research on coronaviruses.

The institute came under scrutiny last year as the Trump administration promoted the unsubstantiated theory that the virus might have leaked from a government-run laboratory in China. But many senior American officials have said in private that evidence pointing to a lab accident is mainly circumstantial.

So where the heck did it come from, then?

The NYT are trying to "debunk" and cover for China/CCP?

pointing to a lab accident is mainly circumstantial.

Yeah?

So is the “evidence” that it came from some bat soup seller’s stall...just around the corner.

I’ll go with the lab...

Reuters - April 2020

“In 2004, France signed an agreement with China to establish a research lab on infectious diseases of biosafety level 4, the highest level, in Wuhan, according to a French decree signed by then-foreign minister Michel Barnier.”

the Trump administration promoted the unsubstantiated theory

Well, golly. It should be illegal to promote any sort of theory about anything until that theory is fully substantiated and proven in a court of law. To discuss an unsubstantiated theory is to deny the science. Or something.

We know that the NYT does not want anyone to believe it originated in a lab, therefore it didn’t

at least Murdoch’s Sun newspaper makes an effort to dig deeper than NYT:

3 Feb: Sun UK: LAB LEAK BOMBSHELL Brit WHO expert now admits Covid COULD have leaked from Wuhan lab as team finally visits site
by Henry Holloway
A BRITISH expert on the World Health Organisation team investigating the origins of the pandemic has admitted Covid could have leaked from a lab in Wuhan.
Dr Peter Daszak made the admission as the team of scientists finally visited the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) amid speculation about its involvement during the early days of the pandemic.

It is reported the WHO team spent three hours at the WIV, which has faced international questions about whether the virus could have escaped from its high security labs.
Dr Daszak, head of the EcoHealth Alliance, and the other scientists are understood to have met with Dr Shi Zhengli, known as China’s “Bat Woman”, who continues to insist it’s a mystery how the virus came to infect humans...

Questions have been asked about Dr Daszak’s position on the team as his organisation is known to have funnelled cash to the lab.
Being pals with Dr Shi, he has also vehemently defended her team and previously rubbished any suggestions the virus may have come from a leak.
He last year described the lab claim as a “conspiracy theory” and “pure baloney”...

Just last week a US biologist Bret Weinstein suggested there is a 90 per cent chance it leaked from the lab while being interviewed by TV host Bill Maher.

In an interview with Sky News (LINK), Dr Daszak admitted the lab leak hypothesis cannot be ruled out as the WHO team visited the WIV.
Dr Daszak said: “We’re all aware of the hypotheses around the potential involvement of the lab in this and we’re certainly going to ask questions about all of the key aspects of the Wuhan Institute of Virology.
“If there are data that point towards any hypothesis, we’ll follow the data, we’ll follow the evidence where it leads us.
“If it leads us to a seafood market and a cold chain, we’ll follow it there. If it leads us to a wildlife farm or a wildlife market we’ll go there. If it leads us to a lab we’ll go there.
“Everything’s on the table and we’re keeping an open mind.”...

Dr Daszak also defended his working relationship with the WIV and Dr Shi despite questions that his impartiality was compromised.
He said: “My relationship with China, my work here, my connections to the Wuhan Institute of Virology and Shi Zhengli are very well known.
“And they’re really well known because I’ve spent 20 years or 15 years publishing the data. I think that’s a pretty worthwhile thing that we’ve been doing.”...

Chinese foreign minister spokesman Wang Wenbin pushed back again today as he called on WHO to investigate other regions in the world over the origins of the virus.
Beijing also blasted back through its state-linked media as the Communist Party-run Global Times newspaper attacked the West in its report on the WHO team’s visit to WIV.
It described the lab as “ruthlessly smeared” and the “target of a storm”, while it also defended Dr Daszak as being “caught in the crosshairs”...

However, even WHO’s visit has been subject to controversy as the team were initially barred from entry to China - an incident which Communist authorities dubbed a “misunderstanding”.
The WHO mission is being tightly controlled and stage managed by China - which even saw the scientists visits a propaganda museum celebrating Wuhan’s fight against Covid.
It included giant portraits of Chinese president Xi Jinping, but Dr Daszak defended the visit and said “we’re intelligent enough to read beyond the show”.
The organisation itself is also facing questions about how it handled the early days of the pandemic, being accused by the US of being “China-centric”...

The organisation’s mission brief released ahead of the arrival of their team in China also made no mention of investigating the lab...
MPs have also been pressuring the British government to investigate after a top US official revealed the Trump White House considered a leak the “most credible” origin of the virus.

And last month, new docs revealed scientists in Wuhan fell ill with Covid-like symptoms in late 2019 - months before the pandemic began to ravage the world.
“This raises questions about the credibility of WIV senior researcher Shi Zhengli’s public claim that there was ‘zero infection’ among WIV’s staff and students,” Trump’s secretary of state Mike Pompeo said...

Meanwhile, some 300 coronavirus studies by the Wuhan lab have been erased, raising more questions over China’s attempts to stall investigators...

WIV top scientist Dr Shi said in December she would welcome a visit to her lab - a comment the organisation later distanced itself from.
“I would personally welcome any form of visit, based on an open, transparent, trusting, reliable and reasonable dialogue,” she said.
“But the specific plan is not decided by me.”
WIV’s press office however than later claimed Prof Shi was only speaking in a “personal capacity” and her statement had “not been approved”, reported the BBC.

Not to stir the case much....but over in Barcelona (spring of 2020), the city waste-water people pulled out the test samples from all of 2019 (remember, it was not publicly acknowledged until December in Wuhan).

What they found was....a sample from March 2019 showed Covid-19.

Now, this stuck with me because I did a week of vacation in Barcelona around the end of March 2019. Lot of tourists in the town....lot of Chinese guests.

My humble belief is that this virus got out of the lab a lot earlier than December 2019, and it probably goes back to February timeframe (Chinese New Year started around 5 Feb 2019). Something occurred in the lab....some folks got the original virus going off on trips (including Europe) and it started getting slowly passed around then.

The China Joe admin will turn this around and soon create...err...discover evidence the virus came from an unclean refrigerator in a Subway sandwich shop in Podunk, WV, of Highway 219. As penance for our sins, China will be allowed to operate the five largest airports in America.

Oh yeah, let’s trust the WHO and the New York Times with that finding. Could there be two more corrupt organizations?

Yep. And, if I recall correctly, after it was built with French expertise the Chinese would not allow French access to the lab.

The claims by the Slimes that it actually reports “news” rather than propaganda are unsubstantiated, unfounded, and mainly circumstantial.

The Chinese researcher from the Wuhan lad that escaped from China has said in interviews that the virus was leaked from that lab by the Chinese military,I guess the New York Communist Times missed that one.
Has the Communist times reported at all on Gain Of Function research?

It was Fauci and Daszak that continued the Frankenstein research called Gain Of Function research that Obama told them to stop, they didn’t,they took the research to the Wuhanlab with 3.7 million dollars and we got the Wuhan virus, both those guys should be inprison
