It is growing increasingly unlikely that California's state legislature approves Gov. Gavin Newsom's plan to reopen the state's schools for in-person learning anytime soon.
Under the proposal, school districts will receive additional funding if they agree to a firm timetable for reopening schools beginning in mid-February. The proposal was submitted to the state legislature as an adjustment of the state budget and offers additional funding for schools, up to $450 to $750 per student, if they commit to reopening
However, in committee hearings last week, the state's lawmakers winced at the Feb. 1 deadline for school districts to apply.
“Why is the administration holding to these days when all I am hearing from is districts that they will not be applying?” said Senate Education Committee Chairwoman Sen. Connie Leyva, D-Chino, according to EdSource.

That's a feature, not a bug.
I have to disagree. Every day a kid stays out of the government school system is a plus for him mentally and emotionally. The reason online learning is failing is that teachers are trying to make it as difficult as possible to prove how wonderful and necessary they are, and that it attempts to recreate the stultifying conditions that exist in classrooms. It does not take 7 or 8 hours a day to teach kids what they need to learn.
The real purpose of the schools is to provide subsidized babysitting and to keep teens out of the full-time workforce.
Good book - “How Children Fail” by John Holt.
Yeah, he was an old hippies, but he had some great insights into how children learn and how they fail.
Time for school choice.
Close the schools.
Fire the teachers.
Send the money directly to the parents.
Keeping them uneducated ensures they will continue to vote democrat.

Considering the indoctrination camps schools have become, I’m not sure about that.
I remember teachers complaining about parents watching along side their kids. It is kinda hard to teach that crap when the parent is sitting right there.
So, one silver lining, eh?
The longer these kids stay out of public school, the smarter they get.
Tell the teachers students won’t be indoctrinated to vote for democrats or school bonds and watch the panic.

Unionized public schools (brainwashing centers) can’t take the free thinking competition.
I heard a few days ago on the radio that some school districts can already single out and send out for sex hormone shots during the day, any child they decide is confused about their gender-—and do not have to notify parents in advance. If that story is true then someone had better start attending school parent meetings.
Public education produces brain dead Democrat zombies.
Better to keep the schools closed so the parents can control their kids’ education.
Private schools are open. Parents are working remote, so they can homeschool.
The kids are probably better off not learning about the communist manifesto and gender studies.

The kids will be fine. McDonald’s and Starbucks will train them. Perhaps they’ll add some online classes about how to collect welfare checks too.
California is a train-wreck. Beautiful state with tons of potential, but they are ruining it with bureaucracy.
I know it is popular to bash California (and very easy), but the entire nation suffers when 1/6th of our economy and population suffer. The irony is that I believe California also has the largest wealth gap of any state in the US?
The poor are poorer and the rich are richer. Crazy isn’t it?
