Jan. 28 (UPI) -- The Senate on Thursday advanced the nomination of Alejandro Mayorkas to serve as President Joe Biden's secretary of Homeland Security after voting to break a GOP filibuster.
...
Mayorkas is the first of Biden's Cabinet selections to face a filibuster as Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, led a group of GOP senators in calling for an additional hearing before the Senate judiciary committee after the Senate Homeland Security committee voted to move his nomination to the floor on Tuesday.

The vote was 55-42 to break the filibuster...but since the "nuclear option" was previously triggered by the Senate, it only takes a simple majority to break the filibuster, not 60 votes.
Romney, Murkowski, Collins, Portman, and Capito were the 5 Republicans that joined the Democrats.

I thought the nuclear option was triggered on federal judges only?

Wait, I thought when Pelosi delivered the Trump lynch-ment article, the Senate was supposed to drop everything and act on it immediately!
Why is the Senate focusing on this when it's supposed to be convicting Bad Orange Man?
If they can do this, how come they're not doing crucial COVID legislation?
Where's my $2000?

Wow - and that was reported in Vox of all places.
Of the course the media isn’t even investigating or securitizing this at all.

I don’t anticipate a vote by Heels Up, in the next four years, to break any Senate deadlocks. It would appear that Dems have a majority with the RINOS.

What is wrong with Capito and Manchin? West Virginia has some oddballs representing them in the Senate. Most folks probably aren't paying attention. Too bad. These Senators are way out of step with their constituents.
