The Republican National Committee (RNC) will not back former President Trump if he chooses to run for office again in 2024 and will instead remain neutral, RNC chair Ronna McDaniel indicated in a Wednesday interview with the Associated Press.
“The party has to stay neutral. I’m not telling anybody to run or not to run in 2024,” McDaniel said, walking the fine line as polls continue to indicate that a sizeable portion of the GOP base continues to back and support the former president.
“That’s going to be up to those candidates going forward. What I really do want to see him do, though, is help us win back majorities in 2022,” she told the outlet.
Similarly, other recent surveys show that GOP voters are not done with Trump, even as Republican lawmakers in Washington attempt to return to business as usual following a contentious presidential election. A recent Politico/Morning Consult revealed that 56 percent of Republican voters “believe that Trump should either probably or definitely run for president again in 2024.”
The survey also found that 50 percent of Republican voters say Trump should play a “major role” in the future of the GOP.

Evidently you haven’t been around politics long enough to realize just how many times we have given the GOP full power to be stabbed in the back every damn time!! LOOK at your country right now, LOOK GOOD AND HARD then realize it did not slip into this abyss WITHOUT Republican help WAKE THE HELL UP, the Republican Party IS Dem light plain and simple!! Republicans have been WEAK, USELESS, FECKLESS for decades, for decades we have held our noses and voted for WEAK USELESS candidates shoved down our throats!! NO MORE!!
I was a member of the Republican Party for almost 40 years. After they refused to back Trump, I got online and changed my party affiliation to “unaffiliated”. I’ll still support any candidate that loves our Constitution, but the GOP is dead to me. If Trump starts the Patriot Party, that would be the end of the RINO’S power-base. It’s time. Many Independents, Libertarians, and even some moderate Democrats would join us. Then, we could REALLY drain the Swamp. Until the Uniparty is gone, we have no real voice.
Time to replace the leadership of the RNC............
I do hope no one here gives money to the RNC for any reason. I get several emails a day from them and I reply “when you support trump I’ll think about it”, give a different message every time. It’s kind of fun. I don’t know if they get them or not but they also don’t get any money.
Those of us who have been with the GOP for 40+ years KNOW how WEAK and USELESS they are, those who have NOT been dealing with the GOP for decades THINK we can change them like a battered wife that keeps going back!! GOP IS DEAD TO ME!! It only took 40+ years but Trump was the last and final straw they disgust me!! Trump deserved so much better from HIS OWN PARTY!!
After all Trump did for his party, this is how they treat him. Maybe it’s mostly RINOs making these blanket statements.

It makes total sense. Primary will dictate nominee. Trump probably will be nominee if he runs.

I believe that has always been the policy of the RNC when there is not an incumbent President running.
But let’s make a news story out of and an artificial reason to pretend to be mad at something that isn’t anything.

And what does that have to do with this article? When there is no incumbent President they are neutral in the primary. When there is, they aren't. Same policy they've always had.
Just artificially pretending to be mad at something that isn't even news.
I contributed to the GOPe demise by switching to Unaffiliated. They are dead to me. A party that rolls over and presents its belly to our enemies isn’t fit to exist.
That’s just made up nonsense. The RNC did a magnificent job on supporting his campaign and had a massive GOTV drive in 2016.
It’s always been the policy when there is no incumbent they are neutral. When there is an incumbent they are not.
Amazing all of the comments acting like this is a new policy or something that is a surprise to learn. People just like being mad for no reason and create false narratives to do so.
Trump doesn’t need to run again.
