The Republican National Committee (RNC) will not back former President Trump if he chooses to run for office again in 2024 and will instead remain neutral, RNC chair Ronna McDaniel indicated in a Wednesday interview with the Associated Press.
“The party has to stay neutral. I’m not telling anybody to run or not to run in 2024,” McDaniel said, walking the fine line as polls continue to indicate that a sizeable portion of the GOP base continues to back and support the former president.
“That’s going to be up to those candidates going forward. What I really do want to see him do, though, is help us win back majorities in 2022,” she told the outlet.
Similarly, other recent surveys show that GOP voters are not done with Trump, even as Republican lawmakers in Washington attempt to return to business as usual following a contentious presidential election. A recent Politico/Morning Consult revealed that 56 percent of Republican voters “believe that Trump should either probably or definitely run for president again in 2024.”
The survey also found that 50 percent of Republican voters say Trump should play a “major role” in the future of the GOP.

Instead of GOTV they need to change course to GOTSTEAL!!
Open letter to Scott Gessler, candidate requesting my vote for GOP chair of Colorado,
Your “plan” sounds like the typical generalizations and empty words of the dying GOP, which has been dying for decades because it’s candidates pretended to be conservative, but if elected, immediately joined with the Globalist Uniparty and turned their backs on we the people who elected them. And even worse, when, we, the conservative electorate FINALLY elected someone whom we loved and who indeed was an ACTUAL conservative and a fearless leader who was forced to stand up against ALL of the globalist forces of the fascist left, the bulk of the GOP persistently stabbed him in the back, cowardly refused to publicly support him, and fought his actual America-First conservative agenda at every turn.
At this point, I will NEVER vote for another GOP candidate because they are “the lesser of two evils”. Henceforth, I will vote only for Trumplican candidates, that is, those who stand up and publicly and repeatedly proclaim that they are 100% in Donald J. Trump’s corner. I didn’t see you doing that. Nor do i expect to see any of the rest of the cowardly, traitorous, lying GOP do that either. As a consequence, now that we Trumplicans know what it feels like to vote for someone we love and not just vote for remote, faceless “lesser of two evils”, I look forward to 2022 when 70 million other GOP voters who feel the same as I do also refuse to vote for cowardly GOP candidates, and thereby permanently rid ourselves of the traitorous GOP Party, with the hopes that a new party of fearless Trumplicans can arise from the ashes.
Yes, I understand this will initially hand the Dems control, but they have, and will continue to have control anyway because of fraudulent elections, so I don’t see that there is anything to lose by first destroying a moribund GOP party that DOES NOT TRULY REPRESENT THE INTERESTS OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICAN OR WE THE PEOPLE!
Trump should wash his hands of this God-forsaken country.
Some do not know how to read and if they do have zero reading comprehension. It’s scary how ignorant many are here. I hope most are new because I don’t remember another time when we had stupid members.
Mitt's niece. And she was President Trump's hand-picked choice to lead the RNC.
So if he runs on a GOP ticket, the RNC won’t back their own candidate? How messed up is that?
The article does not say that. This is not a new policy. When there is no incumbent President in the primary the RNC is neutral. When there is an incumbent President they support him. So what is so shocking about a policy that has been around long before Trump or McDaniel came on the political scene still being around?
If he is not an incumbent President they will not support him in a primary per their policy, which has been around long before Trump ever appeared. In 2020, they were not neutral - they supported him - he was the incumbent. In 2024 there will not be an incumbent.
It’s betrayal and treachery that a longstanding policy predating any of the current players and Trump is around? This is not news. At all. Yet people act like it some huge development.
Priebus should have been left at the RNC. That I will agree with.
She was President Trump’s hand-picked choice to lead the RNC.
And she has no choice but to adhere to longstanding policy of neutrality when there is no incumbent President. Nothing new. This is not news. Those acting like there is something out of the ordinary about this are clueless and lack basic political knowledge.
What winning blueprint is that? Trump is the first President since Hoover to lose the House, Senate, and White House for his party in 4 years.
“Neutral”? What a crock! They were all against him from the start and still are. This just reminds me of how stupid they think we all are. If they’re trying to make me angrier, it’s working!
A defunct party that controls 50 seats in the Senate, 211 seats in the House, 27 governors, and 30 state legislatures, and runs candidates in all 50 states. But they’re “defunct” because they couldn’t drag Trump over the finish line after he continually crapped on his own re-election chances. Right.
The gop is done! It’s over. They just don’t know it yet. A new party will form, with us and a whole lot of former democrats like the union guys who just lost their jobs because of biden.
The RNC was “neutral”? Could have fooled me. What exactly did the RNC fail to do that it should have done to support Trump’s re-election?
RNC Will Not Back Trump in Primary if He Runs Again, Will Stay Neutral
The Republican Party rarely if ever backs one Republican candidate against another before the primary or convention is over.
Never! They don’t give a crap what we want and NEVER will!
This is nothing new. National Committees are not supposed to support any one candidate in primaries. Just because the DNC rigs their primaries doesn’t mean the RNC should.
Make Trump RNC chair.
So if he runs on a GOP ticket, the RNC won’t back their own candidate? How messed up is that?
It’s not messed up. It’s how it is supposed to work in the primaries.
