I can tell you many of us were marginalized out of the office workforce after W’s crash of 2008. Because we don’t meet some new quota.
Many years ago when supervising an industrial personnel office, I was amazed at the number of people applying for entry level jobs who could not fill out an application. The clue was when someone asked if they could take the application home to complete. If a worker could not read an operations and safety manual, they could not work for us. Yes, affirmative action officials took us to court several times, but we won them all. (conservative federal court) I doubt we would win in today’s courts.
Here's the problem: if you never get a call back, how'd you know whether or not you were denied an interview based on your race?
Answer: YOU WON'T.
The problem with recruiting (and it's been this way for years now...) is that the HR muckety-mucks only call back the very limited number of people who's resumes have all the right keywords and buzzphrases that they were told to look for.
That's especially true in the I.T. industry. Unless you or I as a candidate know the exact words/phrases that a company is looking for, we'd have no way of knowing whether or not we did or did not get a call back based on our race.
Now, I'm a little different than most of us here in that I spent part of my career working for a very large and well known Executive Recruiting Firm based on Park Ave. in New York City that knew how to secretly code a resume that was scanned into our system which was then used to disclose a candidates race based on the address of the candidate. That was heavily used as a filter during the recruiting process by our clients and recruiters back in the early to mid 1990's.
It was stupid and it was wrong, yet the firm I worked for engaged in that behavior anyway based on our clients requests. These were big Fortune 500 clients I might add.
Fast forward to today. I was connected to a WebEx this mornign where the Sr. Executive VP of the Business Unit that I'm the Chief Architect for presented his Business Unit's #1 priority this year as being "diversity in hiring." He is specifically targeting women and minorities to hire into Senior Leadership positions for his line of business.
Not just him. EVERY Sr. Executive VP of ever Business Unit in the bank is doing so.
What did I hear as he presented this bullspit?
WHITE MEN NEED NOT APPLY. WE DON'T CARE HOW QUALIFIED YOU ARE.
Reverse discrimination and hatred towards experienced white men in the bank isn't just tolerated -- it's promoted. It's EXPECTED.
I'm so glad I only have two years left to work and I can retire at age 60. I hope the bank I work for goes down in massive flames afterwards. The stupid SOB's will deserve it.

Many of the tokens couldn’t meet the office workforce standards (after being hired), so many companies are trying to outsource much of the office work - unless they can traffic Asians here to do it.
That is the untold side of the over-50 Americans unable to find new jobs; even if their skills are current, it is practically illegal to hire them.
And usually the black woman looks very white. No big thumping berthas
There are a number of jobs where I want the best people working. MY BANK is ONE of those places.
Yep, someone always has to pick up the slack and correct the mistakes for people who can’t do the job.
Those skilled and conscientious workers will be diminishing.
