WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Biden administration will announce on Wednesday a new batch of executive actions aimed at combating climate change that will pause new oil and gas leases on federal land, reduce fossil fuel subsidies, and strengthen measures to protect poor and minority neighborhoods from pollution, according to the White House.
The orders will set the direction for newly sworn-in President Joe Biden's climate change and environmental agenda and mark a drastic reversal from his predecessor Donald Trump, who sought to maximize the country’s oil, gas and coal output by removing regulations and easing environmental reviews.
Biden's focus on climate change has cheered international partners and environmental advocates, but upset Big Oil, which has been arguing the moves will cost the United States millions of jobs and billions of dollars in revenue.
In the orders, Biden will call for a pause on new federal oil and gas leases "to the extent possible" and direct the Interior Department to review the program's climate impacts and taxpayer benefits. He will also set a goal to conserve 30% of federal land and waters to protect wildlife by 2030.
The orders will impact large swathes of acreage onshore in mostly Western states, as well as offshore drilling acreage located mainly in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico, which combined make up about a quarter of the nation's oil and gas supply.
Word of the measure has drawn criticism from some states that depend on drilling revenue and the oil industry, which has warned the move will costs jobs and economic growth.
Biden will also direct federal agencies to "eliminate fossil fuel subsidies as consistent with applicable law"... It was not immediately clear which subsidies could be stripped away under this order, given many of the industry's tax breaks are Congressionally approved.

Yep, I wrote the other day I give him 4 months before it becomes blindingly obvious even to the most militant democrat supporter that putting Biden in office has been a massive massive mistake. “Poor and minority neighborhoods” need cheap energy to survive winter cold and summer heat. They don’t GAF about “climate change” that is non existent!
Gas prices in my area of West Texas have already gone up about 20-25 cents per gallon.
The Democrat party (Leftazis) is now the party of the privileged (mostly white) 1%... the richest among us! With the election of Donald Trump they no longer hid or even advocated for the “little guy”. The old blue collar working class have been discarded (Deplorables)… voting for Trump is now designated a “criminal act” for which they have only contempt for those they formerly championed. The reason (or more accurately justification) IMHO is Global Warming (Climate Change on cold days or AGW/CC).
The blame for Global Warming (Climate Change on cold days or AGW/CC) has always been placed on prosperity and living the 21st Century “good life” for the masses. Wide-spread “common” citizen prosperity is the prime AGW/CC villain. All things considered prosperous, from driving your SUV, a warm house in winter and even the backyard barbecue threatens Mother Earth with dangerous CO2! It must now be limited. From this we get a demand (hear and read them) that the “villain” of mass prosperity must now be carefully and strictly rationed to prevent AGW/CC. A “crisis” so dangerous that freedom itself must be limited and regulated. It will inevitably create a world-wide “caste” system… those are permitted prosperity (rulers-“owners”) and those subject to rationing (all of the rest of us). This has caused the Democrats and “progressives” to no longer be able to champion the “little guy”… as it’s too risky for the planet. To better control who gets to be prosperous and who doesn’t... a poor, ignorant and nominally educated population is preferred… explaining the “progressives” desire for migrants from the 3rd world… they come already poor and ignorant, happy with little more than subsistence rations.
This “new” way is really the old way… royalty and peasantry... a neo-feudalism! The Liberal 1% (Hollywood, media, BigTech, political class) see themselves as the new “divine right of kings”… destined to rule and control those of us of “lesser DNA” (AKA: “Deplorables”). Any natural disaster is now the fault of and always explained by Global Warming (Climate Change on cold days)! To be used as the justification for any and all control of we the “human livestock” who MUST be controlled! For to let us prosper in mass (as unique to modern western societies) is to RUIN the planet! This is not so much Marxism as a world-wide Old South plantation (feudalism)… where the “owners” thrive in the “mansions on the hill” and we (serfs at best, slaves at worst)… have most of the fruits of our labor stolen and will be forced to live a rationed subsistence. Soon even confined to “designated habitation zones” and government housing (private homes outlawed for the serfs). You’ll need a permit to do anything that once was considered normal... from your backyard BBQ to taking a road trip... you’ll need a permit to leave your “designated habitation zone” before your vacation... if we’re even allowed a vacation! The Bill of Rights tossed in the dust bin of history!
Good news! It all for our own “good” and salvation of the planet of course! A dystopian existence for most of us for sure... but Mother Gaia will be saved!

Biden and Obama both have multi-million dollar estates (not bad for ‘public service’) that are located ... near an ocean.
Obama has an estate in Hawaii and another in Martha’s Vinyard. Job Killer Joe has one near the Atlantic in the NE of the U.S.

Surely there are Biden voters/democrats that work in the oil and gas industry. At some point, it has to all blow up in their faces. He can’t just eliminate people’s livelihoods with the stroke of a pen without serious consequences. Playing politics with people’s lives is nothing but demonic.

The most insidious part of this is ending “subsidies” for fossil fuels.
Those “subsidies” are tax deductions for R&D, exploration, etc. that ALL businesses get.
This legislation is targeting a specific industry to punish it, setting a very dangerous path forward.
If such legislation stands, then the gov’t can openly destroy any industry it wants
