With Democrats preparing for the Senate impeachment trial of former President Donald Trump, Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., warned his colleagues that moving forward will only cause more damage to the nation.
"I’d like to get this trial over sooner rather than later," Graham told "Hannity" on Tuesday. "To my Democratic colleagues, if you try to call one witness, you’re going to blow up the United States Senate. Don’t do that."
Graham encouraged the opposition to get the "travesty over with" as soon as possible, especially since Trump has already left office.
The South Carolina senator pointed out that not only is Trump's second impeachment "unconstitutional and ill-conceived" but it has not been carried out legally.
"The President of the United States was impeached in 50 hours without one witness being called and he didn’t have a lawyer," he said. "We need to make sure this thing never goes anywhere ... because I don’t want to legitimize the impeachment process used in the House. I think it’s a danger to democracy and the presidency itself."
Graham explained that on day one of the trial, there will be a motion to dismiss which he expects to occur. But if it goes to trial and the House managers attempt to call witnesses who were not present during the deliberation in the House, the entire process will be dragged out for "weeks if not months."

It seems like a diversion away from the disaster emerging with Biden as he fumbles his way with the levers of presidential power. Biden will have this country in the ditch in nothing flat!
The left wing democrats ruled by Pelosi, Schumer, and all those that vote for them, have rendered our government over to communists and made a joke of the rule of law, which has been destroyed.
Obamacare was blatantly unconstitutional too. How’d that work out? We’re still stuck with parts of it.

The Dems got every little thing in the first Impeachment because Traitor Lindsey handed it to them.
The hateful activist Non-whistleblower even got to remain anonymous. None of Joe’s family benefactors were called, in fact not a single Trump witness was allowed.
I said they would come back and plunder again because the mole Graham gave them everything, and I was right.
Graham will make some faces like he’s mad, and the Dems could care less. The Media will rebroadcast the many attacks on Trump.

I don’t think Graham is correct. I strongly suspect the Majority can craft rules that prevents the other side from dragging it out, as Graham says.
In fact, during the first Impeachment, Schiff in the house, wouldn’t let the minority call any witnesses, every single Republican witness was blocked by Schiff.
I strongly suspect Lindsey means that “blowing up the Senate” means he won’t eat with the Dems for 2-3 days.

I suppose the Chinese would love nothing better than this joke of a Congress to spend so much time on something so useless to take out the POTUS who actually stood up for the USA against China.
Who in D.C. isn’t a sold out fraud - I’m sure the list is very small.
Them senators sure got a lot of time on their hands to put on a show trial for a bunch of people who owe me $2000.
Seriously though, as much as they had popular support in the elections, it was because they said they’d push through the stimulus checks and for as much as the R’s lost the elections, it was because they didn’t come through with the $2000 checks.
Let the checks be the story. Make the checks be the story.
Don’t even spend a moment talking about Trump. Make this whole shampeachment 2, shampeachment boogaloo kangaroo trial all about how the dems aren’t sending out the $2000 checks they said they were going to send out.
Eventually, the Dems are going to push out a stimulus package filled with pork and handouts to their special interests. They will ram it through. When they do, they’ll get all the friendly media coverage about the $1400 checks, and the media will ignore the billions for this and that liberal earmark. That’s going to happen.
All the Republicans have at the moment is to make noise about how they aren’t fulfilling their promise when people are in need. $2000 checks today. Where are they? They promised. Where are the checks? Make it that simple and keep hammering on it. It’s fiscally irresponsible, but responsibility left the barn years ago, it’s now a metaphorical knife fight over changing a narrative.
